hack for no framrules?

Is it possible to make a rom hack (or something) so there is no framerules? So then top runners could compete to the individual frame for the whole run? Every turnaround and fast accell and everything else would matter.

That would not overtake any%, but would likely be a ce. But the mods aren't accepting new categories. Could be a cool idea.

There's a hack like that, but idk where. Ask @Simplistic_Memes

It's called super mario flow, and it's not that hype, because almost all the hard tricks in the game involve frame rules and the flag pole, so it's who can fast accel best and slight turnaround optimizations etc.

the best smb speedrunner would still be traditional any% because it's harder, but maybe a fun ce.

JeffXvX made one a while back, I'm not sure where you can find it though.

@2a03man SMB flow removes level transitions, not framerules. Glitches would still save time

@WolfAttack maybe I got the terminology wrong, but there's no flagpoles and no load times, so there's not much to do except 4-2 ww and 8-4 wj and you can pepper in as many fast accels as you can, otherwise it's just clean running, the world record video is pretty uneventful.

There's actually a decent bit to optimize in SMBFlow. See my TAS of it:

Yeah thanks for all the info. I'm definitely talking about stilll having the flagpoles and cut screens and all. Just simply eliminating the 21-frame rule. So if you run 1-1 at 2 frames faster than your opponent, you're 2 frames ahead going into 1-2.....instead of tied, etc. All the tricks like FPG and BBG and the clips save time (in order to make a certain framerule), so they would still save time if you choose to attempt them.

Threecreepio made a romhack of this. https://github.com/threecreepio/smb-noframerules
