Is the PELLSSON timer off?

So, I noticed that I had gotten a 28.98 in 1-1. Which (for what I think) is 1 frame rule ahead of the WR. For not even being able to beat 8-2 (But I do think I'm incredibly good at 1-1. I immediately thought the PELLSTON timer was off. Is this true? Thanks!

Yeah it’s off, by varying amounts too

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: The pellsson ROM doesn't keep time the same way that RTA runners do, so the times aren't comparable. It only counts certain frames where the game is in a particular state, but RTA runners have to count all of the frames so the times you see in the pellsson ROM should generally be less than the segment times you see in full-game runs.

For the record, a perfect 1-1 (with FPG) would register as a 28.28 on the pellsson ROM.
