What to do with the new glitches

As some of you probably know, we have recently been discussing on the discord how all of the new glitches affect our current categories. Most notably the multi-boxing save manip stuff and the blackout glitch. While most members agreed that the save manips should be banned the case is not as clear for blackout. My latest experiments showed that it requires lag to work. This means that blackout technically falls into the lag glitch category. At this point we have a few options to choose from. We can: 1a. Make blackout exclusive to the lag glitch category 1b. Same as 1a but allow the use of a macro for blackout 2a. Allow blackout in all categories 2b. Same as 2a but allow the use of a macro for blackout

Independently we also have the option of adding an all new "everything is allowed" category, which would include everything including blackout and also save manipulation.

As these decisions affect the entire community it would be nice to hear what everyone here thinks about it.

I don't think 2a or 2b should be considered. I think it's far too much work to be competitive in the game, and we already have a history of separating those kind of categories from the regular any%.

As for the "anything goes" category, my main concern is that this is meant to be a leaderboard. The moment we add that, the leaderboard becomes PBTracker where anyone can run any category they come up with. I don't think that's the point of a moderated leaderboard and runners can just keep track of any obscure categories themselves separately anyway.

Like rarelike said in Discord, I think allowing macros isn't really a can of worms that we should open.

That leaves 1a, which I'm not entirely against because any% lag glitch is just any% with a few seconds of rules being broken to shave off a (relatively) small amount of time off the run.

I'm in favor of 1a. I'm not a fan of blackout being in a main category run given the requirements but making it legal in a side category feels like a good compromise to me.

In regards to anything%, my vision is that it could be one category which encompassed all the shenanigans to help mitigate the chances of there being too many random little categories. It would let people who want to do blackout/save manip/password storage for Steam/IJG for non-Steam/ECC all share one playground. There would obviously be optimal strategies that might obsolete others but people would be able to route as they please. I don't think it's necessary at the moment to be honest but it would be a catch-all for the future if interest rises in the major shenanigans. Even if it were to become a thing at some point you could still make an argument to ban save manip but that's another convo.

Yolo Category Extension

Due to new runs from new runners, a Yolo subcategory has been added to 100%, Extra Spicy any%, and Extra Spicy 100%. Yolo any% will remain as a separate category (as opposed to subcategory) for now since I'm unsure how to merge it without having to copy all runs by hand. Let me know what you think i
