Is the 1.14 villager discount exploit considered a glitch?

In 1.14, placing a villager in water and covering their head causes them to repeatedly give discounts. Would this be allowed in the random seed glitchless category? If so, it would allow for obtaining the 12 ender pearls for cheap from two clerics if you spawn near a village and get good luck. This could possibly be done before nighttime, which would save a whole bunch of time. I don't really plan on trying this out, I was just wondering if it would even be allowed.

Brought this up in the discord. I personally lean towards allowing it, but there needs to be discussion before a ruling is given.

Thanks, let me know what the verdict is.

Generally people seem to disapprove of it, and it's probably slower anyways. I'll try to push for an actual serious ruling if anyone actually completes a half-decent RSG run in 1.14, but it really doesn't matter since 1.7 is so much faster.

ill eventually get around to testing it in creative to see what exactly would need to be done trading and workbench wise. I don't even know if its possible to get the necessary amount of emeralds, but farmers and fletchers would be best options.

I think getting enough for 6 eyes is within the realm of fairly reasonable, but getting enough for 12 requires good enough RNG that you'd be better off in 1.7.

Glitchless - All glitches are banned, exploits are still alllowed. Glitch - The use of an unintended mechanic for an unintended purpose Exploit - The use of an intended mechanic for an unintended purpose

I suppose this depends on whether the developers intended that placing a villager in water underneath opaque blocks would cause them to give discounts.

But in practise, I would agree that this question is not very relevant as 1.7 is faster either way.

I am going to start testing now. I understand that you would have to have absolutely insane luck to pull this off if it were viable, more than a 1.7 run, but it could technically be faster. Thats what im going to look in to.

Theoretical Route:

Spawn near a village Get 28 logs with stone axe Trade sticks with fletcher to get 7 emeralds (emerald count: 7) Trade 6 emeralds with cleric for 12 redstone (emerald count: 1) Villager Restock at 2000 ticks (hopefully) Break every workbench and bed except for fletching table and brewing stand Get 56 logs Get 10 gravel and convert it to flint for 1 emerald with fletcher (emerald count: 0) Make 5 fletching tables Convert many of the villagers to fletchers Trade sticks with 2 fletchers to get 14 emeralds (emerald count: 14) Trade 4 emeralds for 8 redstone (emerald count: 10) Villager levels up Trade 6 emeralds for 6 lapis (emerald count: 4) Villager Restock at 5500 ticks Trade 4 emeralds for 4 lapis (emerald count: 0) Villager must discount while becoming an expert Put cleric on water Get a stack of logs Trade sticks with 2 fletchers to get 16 emeralds (emerald count: 16) Trade 4 emeralds for 4 glowstone (emerald count: 12) Trade 6 emeralds for 6 ender pearls (emerald count: 6) Sleep Restock at 2000 ticks Trade 6 emeralds for 6 ender pearls (emerald count: 0) Get three iron, make a bucket, go to the nether, get 6 blaze rods, find stronghold without breaking a single pearl, etc

Verdict: Nearly Impossible and currently just theoretical.

Sidenote: Villagers are really buggy and inconsistent in the first release of 1.14 with restocking and prefession picking/losing , making this theoretical route even more impossible in practice. Addl. Sidenote: Villagers will restock at 9000 ticks if they have not already restocked twice that day due to various AI tasks

Even if the discount exploit were allowed, this route is not really feasible.

United Kingdom

If the portal had eyes already filled in you would not need to get 12 ender pearls. What category are you considering for this? For Any% set seed glitchless we have seeds where the stronghold has enough ender pearls in chests combined with the eyes already filled in so you do not need to trade or kill endermen. Furthermore, the ender dragon fight is significantly harder and slower from 1.9 onwards, so even if someone was lucky enough for the above route to work, I do not think it would achieve a WR. It remains an interesting idea though.

Random Seed Gless 1.14

You can only but the pearls in multiples of 6 before they run out, so you may as well get 12. If a pearl breaks on the way there, one already being in the portal would be beneficial.
