Clarification on rules

With the new categories for the tales tales the rules say that the whole crew needs to start on the outpost where the tales begins. Does this mean for the Athena's 100% and Any % the whole crew need to start the quest on the ship? If so this needs to be added to the rules list.

I suppose the same could be said about our boat. Currently the rules do not say wether or not the boat must be winthin the island range when the quest begins.

There should be clarification. Rules will be changed for tall tales runs to - All runners must be on the ship at the island the tale is voted for. As for the Athena's runs, only the last person to vote has to be on the ship. The 100% run rules state the voyage can be started anywhere but you must acquire items for merchant..., these rules were for the old runs and I'll change them to be more appropriate. The any% is much more lenient allowing the boat to be anywhere and runners anywhere on the map. Only the last pirate voting for the Athena's has to be present, to vote for the voyage naturally.

Thank you for the rule clarification. Let's open the ball, I'm submitting a first run for one of the Tall Tales.

EDIT: All runners must be on the ship in range of the starting island or on the island the tale is voted for.

I was watching some of the speed runs, wanted to see how I can try and beat some of the times with a few friends and I saw that there was a new run posted. I saw that they had only 2 islands. I rewatched the video to see that they had only 2 islands, crooks hollow, and lone cove, then after actually listening to what the people on the ship said, it made me realize they were doing a Guilded Athena.

In my opinion, this should be in a different category for a few reasons: #1: The guilded athena always has the same islands, there is no RNG as to which islands you have to go to. You could plan this out for an optimal run long before you see what islands you have to stop at. #2: You a no longer able to buy a guilded athena. They were a one time gift from the devs to players, so beating that time would prove difficulty for anyone who has done their voyage not realizing that this would be a category. #3: The cargo run always is delivered at the same island, every time on a guilded athena. This is one of the biggest killers of a speed run, and if you know the destination is the same island (with only 2 islands anyway) it makes running the athena much easier. #4: The guilded athena has more loot was more attractive for PvP when they first came out. They have been out for over 9 months, and it is hard to tell people are doing a guilded vs. regular athena. I doubt most of the people playing even know a guilded athena existed.

With all that said, I think it could be its own category, but as of right now, I do not see that time being beaten as most long time players used their guilded athena's long before this new time was released.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone has the same expectations as I feel that a guilded athena is a different voyage than a regular athena.

I do agree with every point you made. At the time I wasn't sure how I felt about it and probably should have consulted the community. I'll make the new category and move the run, as well as make the appropriate changes to the rules. Also I'd like a second Mod on the channel. Someone to consult about issues I run into like this. I'll make a separate forum post for the matter. If anyone is interested, we can discuss more there. As for this change I'll keep it as is for the rest of the day. If anyone has any opinions or objections go ahead and voice them. Thanks for the post @DreadPirateRoberts.

That makes sense, having a category for the Guilded Athena's. The hard part about the guilded quests is they tend to be one time only, as in not repeatable. But if they bring them back for the holidays, I can see people planning out speed runs which would be cool.
