Hey Ya'll! I Just wanted to share an alternative way of recording your switch, without a capture card, Idk if many people know this. But there's a HDMI Input port on xbox one.

So What you could do, is use your xbox to capture your Nintendo switch gameplay.

Heres How to do it: 1.Plug Your Nintendo Switch's HDMI Into the INPUT port of your xbox one then ofcourse the output port will go to your TV (like normal)

  1. Turn on your xbox, and Open up the TV App (It might be called one guide, If so then open that)

  2. Turn on your switch

  3. Now your switch screen, should now be showing on your TV/Monitor. And your done! Just use the xbox one's inbuilt recording/streaming feautre. And you are good to go!

Hope this helps some people, who have xbox one's aswell as the switch. for capturing gameplay. If you need any help feel free to ask me. I Don't actually have a xbox one. but i found this method while finding alternatives to a capture card. i ended up having to buy a capture card, but i got it for quite cheap. (£30) For a Elgato Capture HD, and it does the job. I Was very lucky to get it at that price.

I tried doing this with the wii u a few years ago, unless they changed something it will not work, you can only record xbox games.

@Jarhead_71, It's for people who already have a Xbox one... If you don't have one. then it won't help you.. as like you said. You can just buy a capture card..

If you don't have a xbox one.. and need a cheaper way of capturing your switch.. Just look on ebay or other second hand sites.. and especially on ebay.. keep bidding on like EVERYTHING XD and stop when you past your limit.. and you'll eventually get one. That's what i did.. and i got a Elgato Capture HD for £30, It's the older version ofcourse. but it does the job.. still records 1080p and etc... Or if you have no money to spend atall, then just use your phone or a camera.. for proof.. point it at your screen and your good! You also don't need proof until 1hr 20 mins.. so you can still practice and do a few runs.. without a way of recording for proof. So that's another good thing.

(I'm so bad at explaining.. Hopefully you get what i mean xD)

no.... You can record it with your 1$ phone, or you can buy a capture card for 80 - 100$

Phones are bad because, it could randomly stop recording due to filling the sd card/phone storage with the recording

Essex, England

Webcams are fine. Up until recently I used a webcam instead of a cap card and had no problems with it. The quality really isn't THAT bad and it's far cheaper. If u can, definitely make the investment into a capture card, but if u can't afford it, then webcams are a good substitute.

The webcam I used was a Microsoft lifecam hd3000 btw, I now have a cheap cap card (LGP Lite)

@castleguy Sadly not, as the Xbox 360 doesn't have a HDMI Input port.

@Xein64, True but if you check you have enough space for 2 hours of recording or whatever.. especially as some devices tell you how much recording time you have. then i think you are good.. I Would never recommend phones for footage.. but if you have nothing else.. atleast it's something.
