I know the pal and ntsc versions run different speeds, and this might be a n00b question, but i have a pal nes (aus mattel version) and a italian mattel smb game which i thought should be pal aswell and it runs abnormally slow. Am i missing something? Feel free to call me stupid if i am haha, i just want to get my rig setup and this is driving me nuts.

Link for video of how slow it is. https://youtube.com/shorts/dQiIpZsUK1g?feature=share

not an expert but it could be a transformer/ electrical issue?

Maybe. The other annoying part is I solely have smb. So I can't test any other game. Maybe I'll hunt for the cheapest game I can find to test that out.

It looks like you're running an NTSC game on a PAL nes.

It does look like that but unless the circuitboards inside the game have been swapped It shouldn't be. Happen to know if the circuitboards look different between the two? Anyway to identify?

Bulgaria

Not by the circutboard but by the Nintendo seal on the cart. The pal ones are circular, the ntsc ones are ellipse.

China

I think you play a NTSC game in PAL NES

It looks pretty round to me.

But here is a photo. https://ibb.co/Yt2yf2M

I've triple checked the NES and it's a AUS version so it has to be a pal.

This is driving me crazy haha. I got all this to finally get a speed run down and then has this problem haha. Thanks for the reply so far tho. I really appreciate it :)

Update: I bought another PAL SMB cart and same issue. This one is complete and boxed Australian version with mattel stamps in the manual. It's 100% pal. Same issue.

I might just end up buying a ntsc nes and smb cart.

Bulgaria

I suggest asking in the discord. Maybe more people could help you there.

Good idea. I'll join that. Thank you :)
