Recording and replaying Nintendo DS inputs

Hello everyone I want to try and check different emulator settings for desmume for a speedgame I am interested in. For this I wanted to know if it possible to record my inputs in a TAS-Style manner to be able to replay these over and over. i don't want to actually TAS this, but just record my controller inputs to be replayed. Is that possible?

Tasvideos recommends Desmume 0.9.9 for TASing (later versions have desync problems). I’m not super familiar with DS TASing so I couldn’t tell you where the functions lie in the emu, but I’d recommend checking out tasvideos and the resources they have there. Even though you aren’t looking to do a full TAS, they should have what you need to learn how to record and playback.

I would want to try to record my inputs with 0.9.11 if possible as that is the emulator used for the run in question.

It’s probably possible, but according to tasvideos it’s prone to desyncs, which would render anything you’re trying to do pointless since it wouldn’t be a correct playback. So I’d use that version at your own risk. If you’re doing small chunks and not a full run it might be okay, but it still might not be perfect.

What about using DeSmuME with Nohboard together?

Does Nohboard allow you to record your inputs and automatically play them back? I thought it was just a keyboard visualizer

Well if you're using Emulator, you're using either a keyboard/mouse or controller of some kind, yeah? I'd recommend GamepadViewer.com or Nohboard (but get the Rewrite version).

It does visualize it, but it should be synced assuming you're recording both at the same time?
