Hey guys,
Does someone mind retiming my softlock pb? After talking with threecreepio, he told me the auto splitter is correct and the time should be a .557. Just wanna double check and make sure it’s accurate.
Thanks a bunch!
I looked at @eddiecatgaming math and got the exact same time he did - I think the discrepancy between what you're getting and what we're both getting - is based on video frame rate. What we did was download the video in the highest quality available (720p) and pop it into VLC. then go to properties (CTRL+J) and that gives a framerate of 30.023894
After talking to threecreepio, he got a framerate using some other tool of 30.002 - entering those two different variables gives you different times by a frame on https://somewes.com/frame-count/
What we have done on every run so far, other than categories that require some special timing method is:
- Download the highest quality version of a video available
- Pop it into VLC to grab video framerate
- Pop it into Virtualdub to gather start and finish times
- Enter the variables on https://somewes.com/frame-count/
- If the video was 30fps, and the start or stop was off by a single frame (as seen by mario's hand positioning) add or subtract a single frame (this was not necessary on this run)
- Put the "console time" (with modification if necessary) as official time on src
For reference, the run in question is https://www.speedrun.com/smbce/run/yj3vdvgz
Hey, didn't want to start any big issues. :)
When I timed it while talking to TheCrit yesterday it came out to the same as the autosplitter, but I'm not a timing-person so I'm sure it's all good!
Also @mruns05 the autosplitter he's talking about is for one particular emulator, and only works with the softlock category, that's all it does.
Thanks so much for the responses! I really appreciate it
I was told not too long ago by GTAce that sometimes youtube tends to drop a frame for no reason (most likely because VLC claims the video framerate is just above 30 or 60, when in reality i'm pretty sure it isn't), so I am checking all of the runs for potential errors. Crit's time has been corrected to .557, and a few others were corrected as well.
Hey Folks!
Just wanted to announce a new change to timing methods for both 11x categories. The new timing standards are as follows:
- Timing starts from power-on/reset (or game select if you're using one of the combo cartridges).
- Timing ends on grabbing the axe on the 11th run.
- Time betw
