Ideas for the site

Yesterday I was talking with a friend in voice chat when I showed him speedrun.com. He has never seen the site before and he had some ideas for the site so I thought I'd share them here:

  • An easier way to search for usernames. Right now, if you try to find an username, for example Hi, it will give you a few names that start with Hi but it will not give you the option to see my profile, and it can be annoying. A solution to this would be to give the exact name that is being searched for, case sensitive or not (so if you'd search for Hi, you would only see my profile and no one else's). Also make a way to choose if you want to search for games, series or users, because right now it will give search results for all 3.
  • A way to see how many people visit your profile a.k.a a views system for profiles.
  • Views system for guides. Guides are the only things in a speedgame that you can't see how many people have viewed them. Would be cool to see how many people check out those guides.

What do you guys think of these, and if there's any ELO mods in here, I'd like to hear if what we came up with is something that you might consider doing in the future.

Elo rarely replies to anyone. Has ben only very very few times that someone from them actually wrote something. To the points:

  • Seach can be improved, not like that tho. A list of results would be already good that you can filter (advanced search)

  • No one needs that

  • Not really important as well. What would be the point of it? I do not see any usefulness in tracking that number. Also, how do you track that number? People clicking on that link individually or bound to an account? How does it handle the people without an account in this case? The number would probably be very inaccurate

@Matse007 I'd like to clarify that these weren't supposed to be something that the site desperately needs, those were meant to be QoL improvements.

No one needs the views system for profiles, but then again, there's so many sites that have it anyway. I personally think it would be nice to know how many views someone pulls on their profile, although it's something that the site definitely doesn't need desperately.

The point of seeing how many views the guides have is to know if anyone even bothers to look at them, some of these guides take hours to make and we have no idea how useful they are for the community if we can't know how many people have clicked on the link of the guide. By that logic, why have views for forum threads then? You can just see the amount of replies it has and you can probably estimate if the thread is popular or not.

@Matse007 Also, filtered search is basically what I meant in my idea, I don't know if the way I typed it out is easily misinterpreted or not. Hopefully it isn't.

I've seen a surprising amount of activity from the ELO moderators, so I don't think they reply to some of these threads as rarely as you may think. They even replied to threads from 2 days ago or so.
