Hey all. I was just wondering, was there a reason no deaths are allowed in each of the categories? I'm not proposing to change it necessarily, but I'm a relatively new moderator & I'm not sure what the reason was for that rule. Maybe older players or moderators know?
Dying loses a ton of time, and usually means the run would be over anyway, but I never knew why that time loss disqualifies the run.
EDIT: As I wrote below, I tested it, and it seems that the reason is because being sent back to the last checkpoint rolls back the timer as well. You could theoretically die as many times as you wanted to without affecting the timer. Therefore the rule should stand.
I think you're right that sometimes encountering a glitch in the game can only be done over again, and I think it's a waste of time
In addition in hell mode if the gatekeeper through some game loophole will let you have no way of death
I might be wrong but I remember that back in the day when i was practicing Ji-min any% in order to learn the run, when i reached the rooftop and needed to practice the NB skip i died a lot. But since the game saves when you reach the rooftop, when you die the game loads that autosave. I think that if i die i can still reload the autosave without losing any IGT because of the previous autosave. Didn't test it but that might be a reason why.
Interesting, we ought to test the IGT. If dying messes with the IGT then the rule makes sense. It would be good to know exactly how it works.
So I tested it, and DamianCript's observation turned out to be correct. Unfortunately dying and being sent back to the last checkpoint rolls back the timer as well. I have a video demonstration which I'll upload to my channel.
The rule should stand then.
