I am looking to make a long game in the future, so if i make a secret thing that only i can access, and then speedrun using it, is it considered cheating?
Generally, if it's accessible to the player either normally (such as the konami code) or through glitches (like clipping out of bounds), it's considered OK. However, I'd just remove the dev route from your final build as that way people actually have to play your game.
No, only i can use the secret code, and i want to make it only because i want to get a wr, is it cheating to use an op thing?
I thought this was going to be a debug menu discussion. Not, "Is cheating considered cheating?"
"Is giving myself an unfair advantage inaccesible to other runners considered cheating?"
Dunno man, it's really hard to tell
Chances are that nobody else will run your game anyway, so you can just keep WR by default.
You could do yourself one better by never releasing your game so that you have the only copy. Of course then it might be a bit hard to get it added to the site but 🤷
