Why is end Time for any% when you hit the bomb instead of when you go back to town?

Sounds good to me, I will take that out and all should be good to go!

I just wanna throw out there that the normal goal of an any% run is to make the credits play hence why the initial timing was the way it was for me. It's been so long since I played this game so I have no idea if I even knew about the other ending, but figured I'd throw my 2 cents into the discussion.

Basically how I saw it, and I thought the 2nd ending was something you have to activate after the credits roll but it turns out it plays automatically so changing the any% rules does make sense. I'm sorry I had to reject your run Bran.

I'm incredibly angry that a mod of any game would clear a leaderboard like that without even attempting to contact runners on the board and only taking the input of people who are "interested" in running the game after a couple hours of discussion. I had a tiny bit of interest in running the game again once I cleared my back log of games a bit, but seeing a rule change be implemented like this without any attempt to reach out to runners for their opinions has really soured any care to get back into it.

United Kingdom

I'm sorry to hear that, the rule change was put in place quickly due to the old ruling being incorrect on the ending sequence so I cleared the board for future runs as the rules have been changed for any%.

I take full responsibility for the problem because I mislabeled the ending sequence.

Rule changes should never be handled quickly. It's absolutely absurd to invalidate runs without any sort of real discussion. If there was any attempt to actually check in with the runners on the board I could take an apology here, but this entire conversation happened in less then a 24 hour time frame and that frankly is unacceptable to me.

I submitted an old run in the hopes that people would see my run when they searched for the category and maybe consider running it based on having some form of example for what is possible, but now there is no such example all because of a rule change I had no say in. Just because only 2 runs were being removed is no where near a valid reason to rush through a rule change without any sort of attempt to take take in other potential opinions.

yeah, I agree that contacting you ahead of time would of been more fair. but ultimately I feel, for the sake of the games run, the change that was made is for the better.

maybe a better compromise would be to keep the runs that had been already summited on the leaderboard. while only just updating the rules, and keep them until other people such as me and mr something has summited our runs with the updated rules, then delete the outdated ones afterwards.

I dont want to be too presumptuous, but maybe this game could do with some more new active mods and that might solve the problem. just a suggestion.

On another note I will not beable to run the game for another 2 weeks due to an injury(I can only really play using 1 hand). however in the mean time i will continue to look for stuff to make the run faster.

ok since i was made mod, i have re-added the 2 old runs for the time being, until new runs are summited i figured there isnt to much harm in keeping the old ones on for a while, even though they conflict with the current rules. whether or not i will remove those 2 runs later on once more people have done the runs, i do not currently know, ill play that by ear.

If I were to propose anything, I feel adding some form of "penalty" to the time is the fairest way to show the change of rule and still keep the runs up. I don't know the actual time it would typically take to do that end segment, but I feel like 10-20 minutes added on to the runs in the leader boards with some kind of note mentioning the rule change is a fair compromise that doesn't invalidate the effort put in to these old runs.

I think there was a chance I purposely omitted that part of the run since it seems to be just walking down a corridor and mashing through text which isn't inherently fun or skillful and just adds a small "the end" screen after the credits had rolled and the option for free play. It was too long ago to confirm that since twitch vods (and my slightly old man memory) don't get maintained for over 2 years and I only highlighted my best time when I was satisfied with the time I achieved.

Regardless this is your leader boards now and I have no intentions on running the game anytime soon if ever again, so it's completely up to you how to handle it from here.

I might try to look for your vod then and see if you did end up doing that end segment. Because if you did, I can just time it myself and get actual time(edit: it doesn’t look like it is possible for me to find that vod so unless you can somehow find it I guess that won’t be happening). I know that end segment shouldn’t even take 10 min to do, so if I were to add on time as a penalty it would only be adding only around 5 to 8 minutes probably if even that. Just Depending on what people think is most far.

I've recently started running Pit People. With what I believe to be decent but not great luck and terrible routing I was able to come close to the any% record. While practicing I noticed the recent rule change. I 100% agree with this so I've reset all my times and going to restart my grind(wasn't far into it anyway). I would like to show my thoughts on this and maybe an addition change while the leaderboards are sorta empty. I was watching tricrow on youtube as the only finished runs I could actually find and noticed his load times are quite a bit faster than mine. Not much I can do about this for awhile but then I noticed this rule change.

When practicing after I ended my runs at the bomb I noticed my in game time on the file restarts back to before The Bear. Showing that the game doesnt think the run is finished in a way. After returning to town the time is updated at current position.

I'd like to propose that we use in game time instead of RTA to remove load times for runners with underwhelming hardware. It's already easily tracked in game and requires completion of the additional sprint after The Bear concludes.

I will be recording runs from now on with a split for both The Bear and the town ending as well as showing my in game timer on file after the time is finished. Here's hoping people can agree on game timer instead of RTA for any%. If not I'll accept my penalty for bad hardware and submit my times anyway.

Good luck :) Also hi! Lets talk about pit people strats sometime and help each other.

Including in game time and RTA can be something that can be done and would be interesting to see the differences between the two as well

All my previously recorded runs were stopped at the bomb since I didnt notice this change before recording. I'll have some kind of completed run within the week to submit hopefully lol. I do wish to discuss strats with anyone else willing to run this amazing game. I've figured out a small sorta skip or alternative completion method for at least 1 quest already.

I understand the low interest in running this game for most people. The random elements are very real. I can play the same battle 20 times and have a different outcome nearly every time even in short segments like the horation introduction. That along with the map changes(a huge issue for me) you never know where missions are located or which map your even on right away.
