As my tweet says you can crouch on platforms and ride them into walls, but only certain ones. If they have Eggman's face then you can't enter them at all.

The top of the shaft that fills with water and has the blocks you can clip with the top ones and save some walking.

Could you please provide a video example? Can you do this outside of debug mode?

Yeah it works without debug. We discovered it on our first run of the stage, actually. All three characters can do it.

If you're having trouble you should try standing further on the edge of the block before crouching. After you're in all you can really do is jump upwards.
