So I am constantly looking for new and fun speedgames but I thought
"Hey why don't you let people tell you why you should run game x?"
So please, throw me some suggestions and tell me why you think that speedgame is going to be great for me. You can ask me anything about game preference and so on, I will add the questions and answers to this post. Ive never done anything like that and I am curious to see what comes out of this. Oh, one thing tho, I do not have an unlimited amount of time so the runs cannot be too long (A bit over 2 hours is the maximum for me).
I do have access to a ps4, switch, wii, gc, wii u and my PC, however I am limited to a GTX 970 GPU as of right now. I dislike too RNG heavy games, glitches are fun but I like good movement just as much. The majority of speedgames I played were platformers or glitchheavy games. The optimal runtime would be around an hour and the run should be at minimum around 15 minutes. And please, not too many autoscrollers. Also, I do not enjoy FG or Beat em ups at all.
To even have a prayer of relevant responses, we need to know genres, platforms, do you like a lot of glitches, do you like no glitches, a preferred length (you gave a maximum but what are you actually hoping for?).
Without a lot of details, this will just be people mentioning their pet speed games, which has absolute RNG chances of being something you're interested in.
Streets Of Rage 4
You can play on any platform you like
There are 17 characters to choose from
Full "Arcade" runs take around an hour and have five difficulties
Boss Rush takes between 7 to 20 minutes
And there are now Individual Level leaderboards, so if you REALLY don't have a lot of time to dedicate, these take between 2 to 12 minutes and maybe a half hour of practice would be enough to get good times
RNG exists but isn't "run breaking" in the most part as you can use your movement and skillset to deal with the RNG so it seems to fit what you are looking for
A very versatile game, providing you like those kind of side-scrolling fighting type games. There is also a combo system and people enjoy score attack too, although that isn't recognised in our SR.C boards.
Long story short - 17 characters and over 1,000 categories that will take you anywhere from 2 minutes to 90 minutes to complete runs, depending on what you want to do, movement based and not RNG heavy. Ticks all the boxes.
Thanks for that suggestion. Streets of Rage is not a type of game I enjoy at all and I also do not see where the movement is in that type of game. Unless I am mistaken, it is still mainly clearing waves of enemies while progressing through the level and that is not exactly what I am looking for.
Well, seems like an odd suggestion but i'd say you might like Roblox: adventure forward 2. it's a platforming based collectathon and due to the platform of roblox having many glitches, the runs also contain many glitches (clips, wallzips, etc). The current 33 star (completing the entire game with minimum stars, except for the 0 star category which is category extensions) world record is 41 minutes. There is pretty minimal RNG but some things are very difficult. Each level has 4 stars and 16 red coins (8 red coins = star) and the route is pretty optimised. Not to mention it's 100% free to play. give it a shot if you want to
Following what @Pear said, I'd also recommend A Hat in Time as well, given that it's in the same vein of games. Great movement all around, with the occasional glitches sprinkled throughout the run, and at WR pace it clocks at around the 34-35 minute mark (though the average seems to be 40-45 mins).
@MrMonsh I think that would be a good recommendation too, except that OP already runs that game. 🙂
Since you - Matse - seem to enjoy Platformers a lot. How about you give LevelHead a shot? It's similiar to Mario & Celeste. although it may be a bit far fedged to say that LevelHead and Celeste have something in common. ...Anyway. An "All Levels (Any%) takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Actually, that's not even a good estimate, as there hasn't been an optimized run yet. Not even deathless. So your chances are very good to be the first person to get sub 1 hour.
I moderate and run two games based on a German children's franchise about a teenage witch, one is a horse riding game (I'm currently the only runner) and the other is a Mario Kart clone with witches on brooms (currently 3 runners). We'd love to have some company.

Both games are pretty trashy (in a fun way if you like those kind of games), easy to learn (in my opinion) and beating my World Records shouldn't be too hard either with a bit of practice.
Both games are on sale right now on Steam.
Good luck, have fun.
The best games i could find on src: ( Most of em are short games but are still really fun to run ) Superliminal Ting Celeste Seterra We Become What We Behold This Call May Be Recorded Tetris (Web) Getting Over It Undertale
I'd recommend you Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, but since you said you dislike too RNG heavy games, I believe it wouldn't appeal to you.
But it's my main speed game and I like it a lot.
