Glitchless Category

Hey everyone!

I know this game does not have many players at the moment at all, but would anyone be interested in a glitchless category?

I was just thinking about doing a glitchless run for this game. I already did a bunch for the first game long before the category ever got created.

So, sure - I'll vote yes. I'll do one, hopefully by this weekend if I have the time.

Very nice, I will also do a run in near future, then we do not have an empty board. Now would also be the best time to create a ruleset for it. I will have a look at it tomorrow again but for now I suggest the usual:

  • No door clipping.
  • No Warps (As seen in derpX1's run in chapter 5 where he teleports to the theater).
  • No going out of bounds.
  • No Dialogue skipping with manual saving/reloading.

What I think should be allowed is jumping to spots that might not be dev-intended but dont skip anything big. For example in Chapter 9 in the boat section you can perform a jump from the boxes to reach a platform where you normally have to use a lever. I think that is fine. What I am not sure of is the jumping sequence done in chapter 6 where we jump over the pavillion. We allowed jumping up on the ship in The Suffering 1 so Im not sure about if we should allow it here aswell.

I just finished my first glitchless speedrun for this game in 2hr44m38s. I am 100% sure it's going to be the slowest time out of whoever decides to submit for this. It was BAD. Really, really bad.

I don't ever remember getting this frustrated over the first game. I'm not sure why but I just really had a hard time running this one. Need a little break from it already lol

Very nice, I will also do my run soon. One thing that I would like to ask you Droogie, do you think we should not allow the pavillion jumps in chapter 6? It feels very tedious for a glitchless run and I am not sure if we should allow it, but on the other hand we allow simillar things in The Suffering 1, for example climbing on the ship. I think that would be the last thing that we need for the rules.

Also are you using the AiO patch? I am using the GoG version and the unpatched version crashes a lot, npcs have problem finding their way, which results in the player unable to continue the game, somethings getting stuck in the level geometry (mostly when you roll through somewhere and you fall down, you are stuck in the wall) and more things. The AiO patch fixes most of those problems and also allows you to choose higher resolutions. I think for a glitchless run it should be allowed. I put it in the Ressources tab.

I've never used the AiO patch. I use the GoG version so if that one is unpatched, that's what I'm using.

You can allow the pavillion jumps - I don't care. If it's allowed in glitchless on 1 then it may as well be allowed here. But yeah I had a few crashes and then I had one issue that popped up in multiple attempts where you're in the back of the truck shooting as she's driving down the road and then the next level loads and you're just in an empty cloudy space. With nothing else around but clouds. I had to restart from checkpoint at that point multiple times, including in the run I finally completed. So I hope that's not an issue. If it is, I guess I don't have a valid run.

If it's ok to use the patch though we should probably note that in the rules page.

I left my video unlisted because honestly I'm not sure I want to make it public. I got incredibly frustrated during the run and I imagine it's probably not pleasant to watch lmfao. But I'll post the link here so you can check it out if you want. I'd turn your volume down when I get irritated though.

Yes I had the same thing happening to me, after the first truck segment theres like a 50% chance that you might just end up in nothing and have to restart checkpoint, should be totally fine.

I agree with the pavillion skip, we allowed it in the first game so I would say we will allow it here too. I will add to the rules that the usage of the AiO patch is recommended, but not necessary.

Something I wanted to add here:

I figured out why my game was glitching around with npcs, getting stuck etc. The problem was that my monitor was on 144hz. I changed it to 60hz and now its working properly.

Ok that explains why I wasn't really seeing the same behavior.

Although one weird thing I forgot to mention...when we got to the docks, that NPC followed me outside but then went back inside within a minute or so and the door they went through locks so you can't go back. And they never came back out. So, IDK what happened there but that happened.
