Taunts give you special attacks instantly and makes the game kinda repetitive since the special attack would be the best way to kill some enemies in Gnarly mode. A run with no taunts would make the run more interesting. The player must be careful to not get hit so he can build up his special gauge
You can try taunting your way through the game if you want, it's not going to be fast
Whenever inventive requests come up like this I always suggest constantly turning in and improving a run with those limitations and if others start to pick up that idea as well then a new category can be made! But until then there's more than enough for people to work on to make faster and faster time improvements.
taunting is gonna be #1 strat in speedruning especially for later stages, I was routing stage 13 and with the air special you can instantly kill 3 rock soldiers to clear the screen, so a "no taunt" category is a nice idea to route the game differently and be a more skill focused run
I was also wondering if this would be a category that people would be interested in, and love the idea. I agree with what General Andrews said for now. If it's something you feel like running, go for it! I can tell you that it's something I would probably be interested in doing down the road.
We could always ask the Devs to make a harder mode where taunt doesn't give you special, that'd simplify things
i just finished my 1st speedrun on 2nd place withno single taunt ^_^ i almost not using supers i came to ask "no super" category xD
