Possible FR Save to Get to 4:53

@2a03man smart programmers have tried it, but contrary to the multiple wall clips in an any% run, smb is not donkey kong 64, you cannot clip wherever you want, and you might mess up the subpixels if you do one trick not perfectly(or if you do the trick at all)

England

but 453 prolly will happen for a TAS, maybe in a few years but it will happen

England

but imo, no human will ever get 453 unless 3 or more new framerules are saved and they have time to spare(at least 4 or 5)

SMB1 has been broken down more thoroughly than quite possibly any other game ever. It's been analyzed inside and out - it's not like there's really stuff that just "hasn't been thought of" at this point. Maybe, MAYBE, in a long, long, time we could find something in the L+R TAS to get 4:53. It's dubious, since it hasn't been improved in over a decade if I remember correctly. But technically I suppose you never have proof that you're at the limit. Even on the very unlikely chance that DOES happen, I don't see it ever happening RTA.

Ireland

It hasn't been improved since 2011, and that TAS was only a one frame improvement from 2009.

@RealTPV 0.44 seconds framerule, cool

imo 8-3 is a very unlikely level to save time unless some kind of new fast accel is somehow found. Mario runs much faster then bills and the closest bill launcher is way too far away, and clipping inside the ground won't help either since theres a gap at the end.

@hh555 due to pal running slower even with ffpg the best time is a 4:55.16

Now im cofused, the video said 4:55.16. And if it were to be true, than the fastest way to beat the game is 4:51.69 not 4:54.036 right?

455.16 is the TAS timing. RTA timing starts when you gain control of Mario but TAS timing starts on power on iirc. 4:51.69 isn't the best time as the TAS uses L+R, but yes the best time would be something around that but the chances of doing PAL pole inputs for ffpg (L,R,L+A,R) 5 times in a run + playing the rest of the game is just.... no.

@Ultra_Recro

You're correct. TAS timing starts on console power on.

454 will be the last second barrier to be broken with the current glitches we have. Unless a new glitch is found this is it. The levels, with current available techniques cannot be optimized anymore. First. There is no way to do FFPG. Second. There are no more wall clips that save any frame rules.

1-1—nothing can be done 1-2—nothing can be done 4-1—nothing can be done 4-2–lightning 4-2 cannot be improved and is already next to impossible (nifski will add someday) 8-1–nothing can be done 8-2–nothing can be done 8-3–nothing can be done 8-4-nothing can be done

They thought the game was dead at 5:05. Then glitches were found/utilized to break multiple seconds. They thought it was dead at 457. Then glitches. 456 then glitches. Ect. It’s always glitches. And I tend to think short of a credits warp. This is over. ^^^glitches wee found or utilized as previously they were TAS only.

Happy to be proven wrong :), but until the TAS is in 453, I won’t hold my breath.

@Rkool21 FFPG is possible, just not on NTSC. People are close to doing it on NTSC (1 y subpixel away) though.

Full Flagpole Glitch or FFPG is when you clip into the bottom of a flagpole enough so the flagpole doesn't go down and you fall behind the block under the flagpole. Since SMB starts counting down the timer when you hit a block, the timer will count down sooner than if you do it regularly, saving some time. If you want a more detailed answer, search it up on google or something.

Yeah, but the difference is that you don't use a bullet bill.

Im pretty sure that if only 1 frame is saved in 8 4 it would become barely a 4 53

nice one year necro
