Emulator sub-categories

If emulator runs are "allowed" but don't post for true leaderboard, why not just have a separate emulator category for the main runs? Playing any N64 game on original hardware, if you don't already have it, can get prohibitively expensive these days, and it seems rather exclusionary to snub emulator players like that.

It would make sense since I see some communities already have a separate leaderboard for emulator. So why not put one here, I mean it would encourage more people to join the game even if things are separate.

I think splitting and allowing emu to have its own leaderboard would be a great idea to allow for more competition

Emulator players shouldn't be more or less encouraged by separate boards. No one is stopping you from running on emu just because there isn't a separate board, hate this argument. If you really care about a game you'll own it legit.

This isn’t about “who really cares more”. The way the leaderboards are now actively discourage emu players since their runs get instantly disqualified

If someone had to choose between emu, and buying this game which is prob way too overpriced right now, they will pick emu, it’s the most accessible. If we don’t end up separating the leaderboards, it would be nice to straight up accept emu runs then onto 1 board and just mark then emu. Because in the end emu is way faster for this game, but lots of players run on emu. I hate the need to own the original copy, completely gatekeeps players

Technically that's what they do now, they're just hidden by default. And no, I personally wasn't discouraged because it's a fun game, but it'd be nice to actually have it count for something instead of being relegated to the understairs closet just because I don't have the money to buy everything needed.

mario party 1 doesn't have a VC other than the Switch which just got released and now added to the leaderboard!
