Hello, i want to start Speedrunning with this Game. Wich is the best Category to start with? Any advice for a new runner?

Hey!

If you are unfamiliar with movement in general, I suggest learning Jill NG+ first. That way you'll get a hang of a lot of the camera changes present in the game.

When you feel confident on that, I'd move on to Jill any% or Jill 100%. While a tad bit more unforgiving in terms of mistakes, Jill has the easier routes because of how she deals with bosses and her extra inventory space.

Happy running!

I would recommend Jill any% or NG+ as well. They're both very accessible and straightforward categories for learning this game.

I also want to get started and I was wondering if anyone had any good tutorials for setting up splits and everything? Thank You!

@stealthmarauder Do you plan on running the PC versions?

This tutorial is really good for LiveSplit.

This one covers how to setup autosplitters, but these only work if you're playing the PC versions of games since the scripts read in-game memory.

So does REmake need an autosplitter for PC or is there a way to split while running the game on PC at the same time?

You can do both, but there is an autosplitter for PC available if you want it. If you want to do it manually, just set hotkeys for your splits.

Great advice above, I used that vid to get my splits set up too, particularly the tip about chroma-keying your background so you don't obscure the whole screen with the is nice.

I don't know what's easiest for this game, I suspect Jill Any% because of the lockpick and grenade launcher making short work of a lot of things, and as I've been learning it the last few days I've found there's some nice backup stuff along the way, particularly helpful are the extra grenades in the hawk/gem room, and the acid rounds when you get the lift battery before fighting Yawn. I keep screwing up and using grenades so those acid rounds saved my ass in both the runs I've finished so far. (edit: I forget the exact locations but there's a lot of spare taser batteries en-route too, which can really help if you get far into a run and don't want a random zombie to end it)

I learned the route by literally playing the game alongside a video of somebody elses run (in this case one of Nyx's) in another window and occasionally stopping to rewind and check things. Make notes of stuff you're likely to forget (for me, I forget which masks are where, so for the mask pickup section I noted down what they were, and I'd advise making notes of puzzle solutions too until you know them off by heart)

Good luck with your runs dude!
