Gotta love it how only people with the PRG0 version of this game can have the wr or closer some others can’t

The title's throwing me a bit, is the frustration here that only somebody on emulator or an NES with an everdrive could get a top time? I can see why that may be frustrating, although emulator is a pretty accessible option(unless you're anti-emulator, which is fair I guess). There is probably some room for a legitimate discussion on this rather than sarcasm. Curious what you suggest the solution is, splitting the leaderboard?

You are absolutely correct, only people with an NES or emulator (with the PRG0 version of the game) can get high placements. I wanna say splitting the leaderboard would be a great decision but I wanna wait for others and their opinions.

Gotcha, fair enough. To present an alternative that isn't keeping it the same, could have an option for PRG0(Yes/No) on each run on the leaderboard that folks could filter on. Similar to how banjo tooie handles jinjo manipulation(https://www.speedrun.com/bt). Likewise am interested on what other folks think the best option for this is

There are many games, where versions are slightly different from each other (japanese DT2 or CnD2 for instance), so just the faster one is used without splitting leaderboards, since gameplay is mostly the same. Here, I think we have similar situation. Although, it's quite significant skip, besides that, gamplay is the same. Additionally, it is hard to recognize, which version is used PRG1 or PRG0/japanese, since there are barerly distinguishable by slight differences (a little different shade of vines in last level or fruits , when they are falling, which again is hardly noticable with different color palettes) and someone can utilize e.g. PRG0 , but just don't go for the skip. So, keeping the same leaderboard, but also adding, which version is used as a new option, seems like a fair way, however due to mentioned problem in recognizing, it's quite challenging.

Besides, @JackTheHack, I know you earlier from submitting cheated (even not your own) runs to DK leaderboard as WR and 2 days ago you submitted random cheated runs to DK boards as well, which was definitely done on purpose with the knowledge of rules (one was spliced between stages and other plainly used save state to go back after death). I'm on the verge of reporting you.

Thanks to splicing my best times in each stage I now know that 1:39 (maybe 1:38) on the PRG1 version for the game is possible.

Okay a 1:20 is possible because both me and lively have done that without the glitch at the end of the 2nd stage, and yes, the 3rd stage clip is possible on PRG1, I've done it and you did send me a video showing you doing it as well, it's just really annoying to do in that version because you can't just hold down and jump, you have to do a backwards jump and then hold down before touching the vine.

Also dude, you need to start working your trust back, I suspected stuff from the start when you first showed people that DK run. I wanna keep helping you get better at runs and give you tips to improve, but you really need to prove yourself to being committed to real runs or ILs, or just become a splicer/TASer and try to help the community by discovering new things or proving certain times or glitches possible, etc. but don't cheat runs and try to submit them.

And besides, isn’t the PRG0 version available on certain early copies of the DK Jr NES cart? So if you’re worried about accessibility on an actual NES, just get an everdrive, or (assuming I’m right), you can just find a cart and use it in your NES. Or just play on emulator.
