Adding Secondary timing method

I understand this is probably a very niche issue, but can we add an option for secondary timing methods for games? A quick example would be Metroid Fusion. For the longest time we would sort by in-game time. However, the in-game timer only shows minutes. This caused ties on the leaderboard with about 5 or 6 people tied for first and a slew of others tied for the second fastest time. It would be nice to be able to use in-game time to primarily sort the leaderboard and then have a secondary timing method, like real time, to break those times so that way there are no shared first places and so on. I know the site will order tied in-game runs by their real time on the board, but it still lists the runs as a shared first. This is a very hot button issue for members of the community surprisingly as apparently people don't want to see shared/tied times.

Uh, Metroid Fusion has both IGT and RTA on the leaderboards. So I'm not sure what you're looking at that there's multiple ties.

I believe that what @HerculesBenchpress means is that, while they're currently sorting by Real Time, they would much rather sort by In-game time. The issue at hand is that sorting by In-game time only would lead to ties in the leaderboard, and therefore they would like to use Real Time as a means to break the tie.

As reported by Hercules here though, the leaderboard will simply limit itself to sorting the runs in that manner, but the runs themselves would still be tied (ie. they would still hold the same place on the ranks).

For example, if two runs tied for 3rd place on In-game time but one was faster than the other on Real Time, you would see the faster Real Time run above the other one on the leaderboard (so, they're sorted correctly), but both would still be 3rd place.

EDIT: As an example of my point, here's the 52nd place for Metroid Fusion as of the writing of this post. Even though in this case the tie could be broken using the in-game time, the leaderboard merely uses that to sort them, but it doesn't break the tie.

Exactly what Monsh just described. We used in-game time for years to indicate fastest times. But with more people tying the top times there became a bigger push to try and differentiate the top times. I don't think it should be too much trouble to add a secondary timing method option, but we had asked a while back and nothing came of it. Like I said, it's a bit of a niche thing, but no one is willing to keep an updated excel sheet with the times anymore. I'm hoping this time we at least get some sort of response so we can try to please both the people that want to use IGT as the main timing method and the people who want the tie to be broken visibly on the leaderboard.

OK I misunderstood. Now that you've clarified that, I'm kind of surprised that there's not an option to toggle that. Not sure if you've done so but would be a good idea to mention this in the feedback thread.

I have not, but I will. Wasn't entirely sure where the best place to put this was. I figured under "the site" threads would be a good start. Thanks for the advice!
