so i'm a starting runner for this, and one big problem i have is keeping 120fps, i know i should be able to maintain this as i have a GTX 1080 and an I7 but for some reason i hop from 90-120fps even with everything on low, is it just the game or should i see if it's something with my computer?

i play at 1920x1080 so i''ll see if it help to lower it and i think i already play it with 50% image quality along with it on DX11, dont know if it matter if i play in borderless window mode either,

I have a pny gtx 1080 8gb and an i7 7700 with 16gb ddr4 ram. This happens to me as well. Usually only when recording. Do you use obs? If so do you use Nvenc new encoder?

i have shadow cache on, and also it seems like DX12 is helping but it looks like it making the game stutter when loading bigger areas now, and also yeah i use obs, when recording or trying to stream the game just tanks and goes it the 60-75 fps range

Although when I was first running this game it never dipped below 120 fps except for 3rd cycle of g3.

Ok. Directx 12 is a mess still. What obs settings do you use? Also what i7 do you have and how much ram?

With everything in low, you are making the game more CPU heavy, putting stuff on high should make the game use GPU instead.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4820K CPU @ 3.70GHz, 3701 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) and i have 16gbs of RAM i run obs at 720p

I used to run this game solid at 120 fps on low except for the final form of g3 when he has the smoke effect around him and then I'd only lose 10 fps or so.

Listen to Aniratak's advice! Try to use more of your GPU-VRAM for the textures by putting the options to High Quality (1 or 2GB, maybe more). That should make it easier to run for your CPU because your CPU doesn't need to fetch all the textures for new areas all the time, instead the textures just stay in your VRAM. For some parts of the game a little stuttering seems to be quite normal tho, e.g. after the gas station or inside the RPD main hall. Also try to lower your resolution (first lower resolution, THEN tweak image quality). I had lots of problems with running this game on 60FPS even, but my specs are way worse than yours. If nothing at all helps you can try to set your ingame FPS to "Variable" and then cap your FPS to 120 with Rivatuner! I hope this helps a little :P, it did the trick for me.

Just use the "performance priority" preset in your graphics settings and that's all you need to do.

I just tried that and my game went from semi-stable 60FPS to 30-50 and even more stuttering. It's not that easy to solve, also "performance priority" adds unnecessary texture filters, bloom, motion blur and lens distortion, which costs even more CPU performance.

Please check this graphic if you want detailed information on performance use: https://www.game-debate.com/blog/images/_id1547477407_343178.png
