Multiple people have raised concern about the current rules of the teleportless category.

I think it should be changed back to a general ban of any kind of teleporting (intentional or unintentional) except for the Holy Mountain Portal.

Please voice support, opposition or criticism here.

Agreed that it should be more strict as it feels counter-intuitive to allow 'light' teleportation.

The primary thing in controversy is the use the teleport spell on a wand (see the current WR by Alias).

The rules were made before it was in the game, and some people think you should be allowed to use it since it's it's precise, intentional, skill-based and line-of-sight movement.

Basically, taking the interpretation that it's not really teleporting owing to the way it functions / the fact that you don't go through walls with it.

I'd suggest the rephrase, if it were to happen, would be something to emphasize like 'no teleporting-like movement, except holy mountain, including but not limited to yada yada yada".

Alias recently said this about the topic on discord

"my reasoning for teleport spell being allowed in teleportless is the following : the fastest movement in any% is teleportitus/teleportatium and there is no place for teleport bolt outside of teleporting to the boss or to the first flask.

It is totally useless in that category. In teleportless the optimal strategy is falling the entire way, teleporting is not op, black hole repulsion is the end game.

I think it's best we leave the rules open for as many strategies as possible, any% is anything goes BS and teleportless is supposed to allow any run to be fast and get a good amount of diversity.

I will happily withdraw my run though if people feel differently. I just want to see the speedrun community of noita flourish.

I must say I have been extremely frustrating resetting for berserk/accel every run.

I wonder if we could make a mod that forces a consistent starting loadout so it's not reset city and would people be interested in something like that?

Based on all the discussion, I think the Teleportless rule should change to "Player is not allowed to teleport (including accidentally). Holy Mountain portal excepted."

and

low% be created with the rule of "Player is not allowed to teleport (including accidentally) unless via a teleport bolt, return or swaper spell. Holy Mountain portal excepted."
