So I used the regular ROM for Super Mario Bros for quite a while, but eventually I stopped liking the light blue background so today I took FCEUX's hex editor to change all of the 22 22 values to 11 11. A screenshot to show what happened can be found here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cX0oCuqNXYrkHJ3c5bQt85ZlGK3mRiqJ/view?usp=sharing I don't know if this would be aloud for runs, so please help! Also, I haven't had any problems with physics, I think only the background changed. Let me know if you guys need the ROM. Thanks ;)
My vote is "no, please use an unmodified ROM even if it's only the colors."
I think there is an option to change NES color palette, which is probably not banned.
In the emulator, there is a way to add custom palettes. My runs are all done on the Nestopia Mame palette, which can be selected within FCEUX if you choose.
Oh yeah I just used a hex editor (The one in FCEUX) to change the background hex values. Do you know how I can do that color palette change thing you guys were talking about? (I use FCEUX)
somewhere in settings, there is a "palette" option. FCEUX should had some palettes already installed in it, and you can download or make your own online.
Please don't necro. This thread was resolved half a year ago.
That doesn't change the fact that you resurfaced a thread that should have stayed in the archives
