Glitches

So China discovered a glitch in Trashing the Camp where before the last pole that leads to the end of the game, Turk can clip between the barrel and the crate to fall below the level, which teleports him to the top of the pole and is quicker. It's in his WR run, and here

so take a look if you want. You let go of analog on the right second to get it.

That being said, you can also get OOB on Rocking the Boat by jumping through the ladder that is initially blocked by a movable crate. However China and I haven't been able to find a use for this (yet?) cause if you cross this invisible line it teleports you back to where you were last in bounds, aka the bottom of the ladder.

If anyone wants to try to elaborate on these or find more, feel free to toss them in here, so we can work together to go fast in this game :D

Norway

shitty quality, but here's the boat clip

it seems like when i jump into the ladder area it doesn't go from the 3D-mode to 2D-mode, which you can check by pressing down, if he ducks it's in 2d mode.

i have one but it isn't helpful in speedruns or anything, just a fun thing to do so in level 10 (Journey to the Treehouse), you need to go to the upper falling branch after the T and the knife, activate it and fall down next to the hole (to the right), but just as you were to grab the edge. if done correctly, no grabbing animation will be performed, but instead Tarzan will stand on the platform, while playing the dying sound/graphical effect and you lose a life

Has anyone tested the Trash the Camp Glitch on N64? Or PS for that matter.

Norway

I tried it a few times during a test run on N64 earlier today. If I recall correctly it has been done in a TAS, but I couldn't get the timing right in my <10 attempts today.

Did you find the glitch by accident or went looking for spots?

I found it by accident during a race, after that there was a small effort in trying to find other places to utilize it. Unfortunately, it seems to be limited to Trashing the Camp due to Terk's... suboptimal hitbox, and the one (or two) other spots where you can fall through the floor doesn't lead to the goal.

So with the turk skip I jump past the barrel let go of forward and if it's the correct spot I fall in?

Norway

It's a bit tricky; I aim between the box and the barrel while not being high enough up to have collision detection put me on top of the box. I haven't figured out the timing on N64 yet, and to be honest the setup on PC is pretty much just gut feeling to begin with.

@china How accurate is the emulator you used on your N64 WR compared to actual hardware? Have you tested the load times? Rugrats in Paris has drastically different load times on emu is why I ask.

EDIT: I noticed a difference between levels, on N64 you get a screen mentioning a rumble pack. Would you happen to be playing with one? Or does the emu skip the screen? If it does skip the screen it doesn't have me hopeful for how well it actually emulates the game. Hardware consistency is important when you have so many categories and pc/emu players have their own leaderboards imo. Just a thought! My run should be up today hopefully!

It's meant to be one of the more accurate emulators out there. I'm downloading Spark's run now to compare load times. If it turns out the emu loads faster, I'll pull the run from the leaderboards~

I'm assuming you dont have tarzan on the n64. :(

Norway

I don't even own an N64 anymore!

Edit: I've gone through comparing videos and it seems like I save about 24 seconds in loads compared to real hardware. I've decided to hide emu runs by default, and also added 24 seconds to my submission.

I got turk skip earlier tonight following the tips you gave me on N64! Ruined the run on Clayton sadly. :(

VINE GLITCH/VINE ZIPPING

Found by Brormanis, like today i think?

Basically by optimally regrabbing a vine after letting go of it, you can achieve ridiculous speeds. This can probably save over 10 seconds on any% and a lot more on 100%. Video explaining the glitch here: Original video of the glitch here:

how do u even do the turk skip? ive read all the tips above but cant seem to make it. Is it even possible with keyboard on PC?

yes of course, i run w/ keyboard on pc but honestly, there's no good way about it. the visual queues i have (the ones i tried to describe earlier) are diffuse. i guess i can also mention that the plank on the ground helps a little with alignment; i try to jump around the right hand edge of that.. i think. if you feel like practicing it, you're going to get it eventually. the more you get it the easier it'll be. still though, my success rate might be ~25%

so u just jump at the right timing? or do u realese buttoms while in the air or spam a specific buttom, nothing like that? just jump?

Ukraine

well i think its rng momentXD but i still cant understand how its works
