Why do you speedrun?

I've recently realized that I did a lot of speedruns just because by looking at the current "WR", I knew it could be improved. And so I did :)

Its fun. Atleast for me. The challenge of getting a better time over and over is amazing even when sometimes your Speedgames are just aweful to run and a true pain. But then again the speedrun-community overall is so amazing. I was at ESA and everyone was nice. And to be honest when you dont enjoy speedrunning you wouldnt do it ;)

I speed run because its really fun to break a game down, and try and play it the fastest you can

Nostalgia is the biggest reason for me. Also, friendly competition is fun.

  1. Replay Value
  2. Fun
  3. Awesome Community
  4. Competition for old games
  5. Satisfaction when breaking your PB or WR is unreal

Why do I like doing speedrunning stuff ? Hm because it gives me tension to test myself how far I'm capable of doing my tasks in extreme conditions where speed is everything, which is obviously different and you can never feel solely by doing some chores normally without taking heed of the clear time at the end. And especially, as the biggest reason for that is, the motivation to endeavor to improve my records over and over to the maximum with my utmost attempt, and by doing so I felt like I could learn how important to stay patient in doing something arduous as long as possible, which is significant in doing other things other than getting monumental video game records, aside from being able to mingle with others who also are avid speedrunners and compete with each other with their own time which also boosts the motivation of those engaged in doing the speerunning.

And nah, I'm not saying because I have no life of course, but it's quite a treat for me ;))

I'm a fatass so the feeling like I'm going fast in a video game is the closest I can get to actual running.

My best friend made me dive in during a drunk night. 2 months later, I'm still stuck in this world, looking for more sensations than playing games casually.

  • Incredible community
  • Epic achievements that you can't find in the casual world
  • Surnatural events and stories to live with other runners
  • Killing time
  • Spending more time enjoying a single game
  • A great lesson about perseverance and pushing your limits
  • [insert other good reason]

Personally Yajijy got it for me

  • Spending more time enjoying a single game

My personal favorite game is Titan Souls and speedrunning just gave me an excuse to play it more. Beyond that the feeling of mastering a game and trying to understand all the little things like it's design is a lot of fun. I don't really care for the competitive world record aspect much, just like the feeling of doing well.

I speedrun games that i really enjoy, mostly for the playback but to also play the game in my own style. I love the amount of time and practice it takes to even complete some of the runs

Wasn't good enough for MLG, suck at fighting games, so speedruns. Was also quite fun to see my favorite game ever (Yoshi's Island) get beaten so quickly, so that kinda reeled me in here.

Basically because I'm cheap. I kid, but the ability to juice replay value out of a game is great to me. I have almost a sentimental attachment to games, and when I exhaust the possibilities, it almost feels like drifting apart from a high school friend. Meta-gaming of all kinds is great because it shifts the focus, and any game can be made into its own full hobby.

I speed run because it's a fun hobby and I like pushing myself to get better at it when I put my mind to it.
