I am curious ShadowFlare, you have said multiple times you are a "professional gamer" why do you classify yourself as that when it seems like you are just a high school kid who did a couple of arcade completions?

I'm 34 years old and the term "professional gamer" means playing professionally at games which is what anyone who is good at games does.I'm not going to respond to an obvious troll.

Honestly, post some runs already. Maybe that FF2 run of yours. It's a world record after all.

No, being good at video games does not mean that you are a professional gamer. DarQ's comment was not a troll. Professional refers to profession, which means that you actually have it as an occupation. Unless you've won evo or something, I wouldn't classify you as a professional gamer, since speedrunning for almost everyone on this site is just a pasttime.

It was an attempt to take a shot at me obviously the old juvenile "I'm better than you" attitude. But I guess perception kind of has its influences huh? Wrong again, a "professional gamer" is someone who plays at a professional level that would be like someone commenting on someone's ability and acknowledging them as a "pro". Professional gamer definition has more than just one meaning. "Unless you've won evo or something", just sounds rude. There are plenty of good gamers that never even made it to EVO that are equally as good if not better than some of those players just some common sense and I'm not going to throw myself in that league but just to put that out there just for "perception" sakes. And Komrade lmao its not a speedrun. :) You're welcome to do better though.

Valhalla

It's certainly not a world record then ;) Hope it works out for you though, I'm going to go professionally make a bomb ass burger, good luck on your facebook referral program.

@shadowFlame7799 a "professional gamer" is someone who uses gaming as a profession, so twitch streamers, competitive high level overwatch, csgo, hearthstone, dota, league player, or to an extent some speedrunners who make videos about games. However, just playing at a high level does not make you a professional. You used Evo as an example so here, I would not say you need to have won an Evo to be considered a professional, but at least participate, maybe take a higher place than average. But I wouldn't go to an Evo event to watch the games being played and tell people I'm a "professional fighting game player" because I play it at my house against my friends.

I am also not a troll and my question was not directed as a troll question, I was simply asking if maybe you did other things that would classify you as a professional in video games which you seem to not. Sorry if this sounds rude, I just don't like being called out for something that I am not.

Its okay you're cool in my book, I just didn't know because of the way it appeared. I get the you look very young for your age type of comments all the time when I'm 34 so that's actually a complement lol. We'll just agree to disagree then about the pro definition :) since pro is also a open and abused term. You get everybody using it today all over the web and on the console systems. I'm just happy completing my games and every once in a while doing a speedrun.About the few arcade completions that I have, well no I did have an older youtube channel the ones still active and the other is deleted I have up to 100 games completed in my library offline but I've been doing this since I was 18 so its been a long time. I guess my goal is to complete as much as possible but with carpel tunnel syndrome and osteo arthritis in my hands don't know how long that will go, hoping to keep pushing onwards into my 40s and 50s so as long as im physically healthy to do it. I know that I have a history of talking about myself and I do apologize about that.

That's cool wolf I used to do skateboarding when I was younger fell on my butt a lot, and I feel like getting back into it at some point. What languages do you program in, just curious c++, assembler? I'm currently learning c++ im a beginner at it and trying to learn the language as much as I can in my spare time.

I have been playing drums for about 10+ years now, varying greatly in genres and styles but my absolute favourite drumming genre is either Jazz or raw Death metal since Jazz can get very technical and Death metal is usually speed, interesting fills, blastbeats/gravity blasts and lots of powerplay drums. Furthermore, I am a movie/cinema freak. I love watching Horror and Action movies. Recentely watched John Wick 3 (Can recommend it!) and I'm gonna see Brightburn this weekend!

Karaoke. So into it that the SO and I have our own in home setup, but I prefer to go out and sing in front of people. I'm decent, but my wife is a classically trained singer. It's tough following her sometimes. =P

that sounds awesome toddman! I used to box to and trying to get into training again but have to get reconstructive jaw surgery first (this wasn't from boxing or fighting). Where you a boxing journalist on websites or did you publish in local sports papers? Also what gym? It says virginia you are from and the east coast is a boxing mecca so there are a lot of great gyms maybe I'll recognize one of them. Up here in Pennsylvania they have a lot of great gyms in Philly and also Larry Holmes the former world heavyweight champion has a gym in Easton PA and lennox lewis trained up in the pocono's not far from me.

I love watching movies (any genre except horror, I get scared very easily). I also love reading and writing-I usually write fantasy or sci-fi but it's difficult to find the motivation to keep writing, especially with so many ideas running in my head, so I rarely get past the first few chapters. Sometimes I bake/cook and roller skate as well.

@ShadowFlare7799 I trained at a few gyms in Virginia including the Police Athletic League and a place called 9th Dimension Sports Circle. 9thD is owned by pro middleweight Immanuwel Aleem's family so it's a solid little place :)

My articles have been featured on Boxing Scene, Boxing News 24, and Mike Tyson's website and I used to have my own that I published on. Larry Holmes ATG for sure, one of the best jabs ever! :)

That's great toddman, have you done any work in game journalism in the scene? I'm familiar with both boxing scene and boxing news 24/7 as I used to follow those sites constantly years ago who where you on there? Holmes had a mean jab but one of the hardest hitting heavyweights are rocky Marciano and sonny liston hands down! I've heard of police athletic league but haven't heard of 9th dimension sports circle how is the place to train? I'm in the Scranton PA area so I'm looking for a new gym to train at and willing to travel as far as philly to train. Got any good gyms in Philly you can recommend?

Before I took up speedrunning I was a tournaments/leagues chessplayer, and I had done the same with Scrabble. I used to dabble in microstakes poker but I'm far more comfy with it in real life where I don't have to practically drown in caffeine and multitabling. Not sure I'd call it a talent but I also write some stuff; wordplay, jokes, copypasta/comedy style stuff. So if you think speedrunning is as geeky as it gets, think again 😂
