1.10 Autojump: We're Allowing It.

Fatty please stop editing my posts.

Texas, USA

3 pages and no progress lol

Singapore

3 pages LOL Craftain, (where I stay) a 7 year old has to go to first grade even if he doesn't know how to read or write (which is rare here because education is a huge priority).

Btw, craftain, you've said that you've quit too, so, why are you still here too? ;))

Also, thunder cares because autojump is stupid.

At this point idgaf, I give up on de mods. Do whatever you want and make sure it turns out how you want it, not how the community wants :DDDDD Everyone loved Hitler and Stalin, didn't they?!?!??!

Friendly reminder that

  1. The community is not always right. You think that Trump and Hillary were our best options because the majority voted for them? By definition what we are doing is democracy, and what you are asking for is a republic; that is, a republic ALWAYS considered the majority while a democracy uses logic and other things to help out the minority. That being said:

  2. It is stupid to ban something solely because others don't like it. You don't have to use autojump, but if people want to use autojump they can. And if you care so much about getting wrs, then suck it up and just use autojumps. I don't understand why absolutely no-one should be permitted to use autojump because a group of people don't want to use it. The other "arguments" are invalid, and tiggz had said this many times and I haven't seen much response to that

Did someone get a wr with autojump?

Singapore

Trump and Hillary were unfairly publicized.

Why is it stupid? If no one wants it then ban it .-.

United States

It might have been a bad example but "the majority isn't always right" is still a thing imo

It's stupid because as of yet we have not seen a reason that we see as "valid"

"Have to play in 1.10" is stupid because 1. You don't HAVE to use autojump and 2. That's like banning 1.7 if 1.7 had stronger leaps.

"Makes the game too easy / removes a lot of skill from DE" 1. IMO it's still difficult 2. It's still difficult to handle autojump 3. Whether any idea (especially a game feature) makes the speedrun worse or not should not be an ultimate factor in determining if it's banned outright (at least in my opinion)

I don't know if it's just bias but I feel like I haven't seen much in terms of responding to these arguments against your arguments, and instead focusing on making new ones (or in thunder's case, rehashing "THE COMMUNITY IS ALWAYS RIGHT" like 500529518156tq times)

-- "A republic is similar to a representative democracy except it has a written constitution of basic rights that protect the minority from being completely unrepresented or overridden by the majority." (Diffen)

Important part is the second part

I'd say the right to use any intended game feature is pretty basic. --

For the people who call us communist / authoritarian / relate us to Hitler / Stalin

I don't think over a little argument

England

don't worry guys, it's all sorted, minerscode overruled them, calm yo tits ;D good fight lads

Ontario, Canada

After a civilized conversation with DaFatMan, Minorscode was introduced to the truth of what has occurred recently regarding the Autojump debate & came to the conclusion that Autojump would benefit the community in a prodigious way; bringing more people into the game. Nice try, Thunder. It was a good argument. https://gyazo.com/0ed43ad85123958d6da2af94f8a2f04e

Fine, if auto jump is to be allowed, then you HAVE to ban leaps which aren't possible over 100 MS. It supports all YOUR arguments. Makes the game a bit easier for new players, so they won't quit so quickly (miners code is all for it ;D). Otherwise, you are really going to be very inconsistent! We don't want that now, do we ;)

United States

You can do it with under 100 ms. I thought we've confirmed that already ;)

So why we allow autojump AND trash leaps

  1. A reason which I put for most mod decisions is that an outright ban of something should be clear and with very good reason. The reasons for autojump we've already determined are bad. The arguments for banning OP leaps are more justified, however we think that everyone at least has the ABILITY to do the leaps, and therefore an outright disallowance shouldn't be done. Also, the "ping bias" idea is futile to fight. I never addressed it, and I probably should have. Maybe it could have let the argument go a better path

  2. All the reasons except "It's a feature of the game" for autojump I only added because you believe that quantity > quality for arguments. The only reason I actually care about is that it's an intended feature, for the reason above. The reason I thought that "it's a feature of the game" is an important argument on its own is because of the implication that we're banning aspects of the game for the sake of speedrunning (and not making like 4 people pissed off)

  3. Assuming I need to stick with my extra arguments, there is a key difference between making the game easier in terms of allowing autojump and banning the leaps. For banning autojump, it allows people to take the easier path. You can still take the hard path, but you have access to the easier path. With keeping the leaps unbanned, you are allowing the hard path. You can still take the easy path (and just not be thirsty for wrs) and still have access to the harder path. Unless it can proven that someone can't do the leap AT ALL, this stands. And in the latter case, again with the implication of banning, we don't want to ban something just for the sake of making the speedrun "better", unless the difference in speedrunning with or without is significant enough (and we don't see one leap for wrs as significant enough).
