I already posted this in the intro forum but i literally just made my account i this is probably a better place to post sorry if this isn't allowed
Hi, i live in the UK and am interested in starting speed running the early Mario games on NES. I am aware that there is some difference between the PAL systems and TVs in my country and the NTSC ones found in NA and Japan. Id like to know what equipment i should be getting to optimally run these games.
I found a Matsui 14TVDVR1 CRT TV in my house and it says it has "NTSC playback (PAL60Hz)" but i'm new to this kind of tech am i'm not sure exactly what this means

Would this TV work with an NTSC NES or am i really over complicating this, if so what equipment should i get to run these games. Id really like to know what other people in PAL regions use. Thank you for your time all feedback is welcome
Most CRT's will work with either NTSC or PAL. There are some framerate differences. With that TV personally I would get a US NTSC NES. It will connect with an RCA cable to any capure card with RCA connections. Or directly to the TV via RCA. RCA is the red white and yellow cables. Hope this helps.
i speedrun on my french NES, i've removed the location chip so I can play with NTSC, PAL and JAP version
Thanks a lot guys. Will both these methods give me the higher US frame rates?
