Emulator Allowed?

I now know I can run this can this game on emulator. Please tell me that its allowed? Its impossible to get this game on a actual Wii these days.

United States

I got frustrated with constantly resetting entire levels on Wii just to practice a small section ... I've been using Emulator the past couple of days just for room grinding ( thankfully wiimote was easier to add than I thought). I really don't see any issues, except the weird sound glitches back at the main page over world screen. But I havent really done any time comparison testing, like menuing, canceling pop up texts, area load times, etc ... ( everything "seems" consistent across both from what I can tell without seriously testing ). Here's the thing, even if there is an issue with Emulator runs, there could always be a separate Emulator category if it had to come to that.

I never considered a separate category. Alright, I ll just use emulator for now, then get a Wii.

As a digital release, I imagine the loading times would be as fast for Wii as they are for emulator, or at least only minimally slower where emulator would be no more than, say, 5 seconds faster. Some loading screens do take time, though, so testing would be helpful. I'd recommend at least trying the homebrew route, similar to Ocarina of Time VC: But emulators are allowed.

I decided to hop back on my Wii console and practice a run through the first chapter and almost immediately I noticed that stages were loading in a tad slower than what I had gotten used to on Dolphin while practicing/learning. Gonna confirm, Dolphin/Emulator does load levels in faster than on Wii console. The menuing, text popups and confirm/cancel menus, all so far, seem to be on the same loading time frame. It's just loading and exiting stages there is almost a full second delay on the Wii console loading into stages. And with so many stages/levels to exit & load, a significant time advantage will go to Emulators, especially for a game that is time in "Real Time".

Doing a side-by-side on OBS was useless since Elgato does have a second or so delay already. So I setup a smaller TV by my PC Monitor with my Wii hooked up and did a side-by-side. Excuse the piss poor quality :P But as you notice, while I'm spamming the "2" button, the menu's are in sync up until the stage is loading in ...

Unfortunately gonna have to recommend separate Leaderboards for Wii/WiiU and Emulators.

Ah, if it's almost a second (looks like 29 frames at 30fps in that video), that'd be nearly 55 seconds for Any% simply on entry loads. Assuming loads for switching pages and entering HOI have the same result, that'll be even more significant. I agree with separation - a full emulator ban for an unobtainable game seems silly - but now strongly recommend using homebrew to install to a Wii or Wii U.
