Boss Strategy Thread

This thread will eventually host all the boss strategies that people have found for the game and where to set up getting into berserk range.

Please feel free to post videos below and i'll copy them into the OP in boss order (Once we actually settle on a route)

North Carolina, USA

A lot of activity on the routing section but will start adding some fights that I've gotten a few questions on. Obviously these may change based on route, but just to give an early idea.

----------UFO (Route with doing Toy Box First)---------- (TB first route)

Important notes about this fight are that aerial recovery makes this a lot more manageable so don't forget to put it on. If he is in a spot that you can't quickly jump on his head abuse the max focus TT keyblade to teleport to his head (Partial focus doesn't teleport you to above his head). Clip doesn't do it but probably best to start by max focus to his head and then fire spam and save 2nd focus for his DM.

----------Tangled Boss---------- (TB first route)

Important notes about this fight are that if he starts to run away immediately max focus to him to make sure he doesn't DM (Max focus with TT keyblade is a teleport move, less than max is a similar to vanilla keyblade focus so make sure to do max only). If he starts doing the twirling torpedo like attack you skipped the first DM (pretty sure he only does that after the first DM).

----------Cloaked Org Fight----------

This is a bit of an extreme example but they sit in the corner pretty nicely here and hopefully you can hit multiple members with each spell situation command.

----------Demon Tide Twilight Town----------

Really annoying fight due to it being early game, best to do as much guaranteed damage as you can when the pattern is the same at the start. Demon Tide always moves the same way at the start. Chariot finisher was primed in previous nobody fight.

Will continue adding more

Level 1 Beginner adding notes as i finish routing sessions.

ROCKTITAN lots of talk about fire spam on different fights but for any stationary enemy or boss you should spam water in melee you can melt rock titans feet with one bar of magic each. its actually kind of silly how much it hits

Is storm titan just a slow fight or am i missing something?

2 Ragnarocks should expose the core fully allowing for full damage on demon tide.

Toy Box Final Boss Strat (Beginner Any%)

Alaska, USA

Here's an even more extreme example of whats possible on the cloaked org fight

gonna see if I can find anything a little more consistent as I got pretty dang lucky here lol

EDIT: Aeroga is gud.

Sometimes one of the goats doesnt get caught and can interrupt you but if that happens firaga spam is still a solid backup.

Ralph is good on UFO / KoC / Minc 2nd phase / Marshmellow

Ralph is fucking awful on wolf and I can't imagine him being much better later in the run either.

DM Skip for Final Xehanort. I was able to get this relatively consistently in practice, not sure if things would line up exactly in a run though. Didn't eat the food in this video either. Depending on your level/Ever After level/if you ate the food, you can just go lower or higher on the first shotlock and it should be fine. Just don't want to hit the DM HP gate before doing the fifth fire in the last combo to be safe since he does have a chance to get out after the 4th one and DM if you're too far away for the fires to consistently stagger him.

Tested Xehanort DM skip, found most consistent setup was fire 3 times at start (when he is doing purple ball attack), guard balls, ether after balls, guard his attacks until he reaches the point he is staggerable, full fire combo with firazaga and then focus as much as you can as fire is traveling to him.

With Corona 7 route + crepe food active.

Had this happen accidentally to me on the Aqua fight during a run. Tried it again later and it worked a second time. Not sure how consistent it is for anyone else but I'm at least 2/2

You can airstep the Fire and Ice Titan. Opening 3 fires on the ice titan, then air step to the ice titan during the tornado and quickly centering yourself will redirect the two beams and make each titan vulnerable to extra damage.

Not sure if you can get a flow motion attack off before alternating magics but I'll be testing it more during the week.

When fighting the final boss of Arandele has anyone seen the limit on the amount of times the boss jumps and does that cool allbeat long animation attack. The surrounds itself in a black orb summons enemies and then dives then you and marshmallow break it. Think if that could be cut that could save at minimum a minute

Hey, first time actively contributing on speedrun.com but I think I stumbled across some hot queso for the Heartless Doll Boss fight. I have a link to the video that I pulled from my PS4 here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fMdGcM7dCTXO_jpHiwhJ7-nE--uG5Gba/view?usp=sharing

I found a way (completely by accident lol) to activate the Blaster Blaze, trap the doll in the top corner of the one of the inlets in the wall and just keep blasting her until the fight was over. For some reason, the summon never expired. It was all very strange but I figured you guys may be able to figure some stuff out with it. Good luck on routing :D

Manitoba, Canada

Papapoli, if ANYTHING is staggered by blaster blaze then it cant expire ever (or be cacnelled) so nice find might be REALLY useful for level 1 depends on what the dps is like versus regular strats

Ontario, Canada

@Xelnas I figured that even if it was useless in the fight that I discovered it in, the same principle could be used for anywhere else in the game. You may be able to eyeball the dps by the video I posted. Also, I have the original video that I cropped this from, if you guys need it. I think I was lvl 15 at the time. The consistency of damage compared to any form of single character comboing might help tip it in favour of becoming a part of the SR strats for early game. Glad to be of help and I'll keep you all posted if I find anything else. I tend to have a knack for clumsily breaking things, good or bad haha

yeah i think doll is before Fire really picks up steam (unless we go back to KoC first)

Doll Fight is where we already have Fire Cufflink so for Beginner I doubt that method would be used, still a cool find though

Alaska, USA

ralph seems pretty good in the first monstropolis fight

If you get lucky the carousel can pop up during ralph, and you can use that to end the fight without ethers. Shotlocking can also be an option I guess.
