I recently found my old PS2 and decided to give the EtD any% a try. I've gotten around the 2 min mark today but noticed something pretty disheartening - my load times seem super long compared to the top runs.
In particular, the falling loading screen into the Ripto fight is taking like 35 seconds for me, compared to roughly 10 it seems for the top runs. It's sad that this would pretty much disqualify me from moving up in the boards much further.
I guess I'm just wondering if there's any fixes for this, outside of getting a new console?
Just watched some of the other PS2 runs and it seems it's a problem across the board, so that sucks. Maybe I'll have to get a gamecube.
Is there any reason the consoles don't have separate categories? Or that we don't discount loading times?
boxmunchies93 - that's fair, they're both pretty old and haven't been used in a decade I would say. Maybe I'll just have to look into getting a gamecube copy. Thanks!
gamecube/wii is so much faster and better than the ps2 version in every way, would totally recommend using that if u can
As stated here already PS2 is really slow, It is recommended that you play on Gamecube or Wii, I belive wii is slightly faster but GameCube is perfectly acceptable!
Pretty sure the ps3 version is slower than GC/Wii but it may be faster than ps2 I really have no idea.. Hopefully a real answer to that question can come soon
fastest versions for RTA runs go as follows NTSC Wii > NTSC GCN > PAL Wii > PAL GCN > NTSC PS3 > PAL PS3 > NTSC PS2 > PAL PS2 (pal ps3 and ntsc ps2 might be interchangable tho idk i havent tested that)

GameCube/Wii has exclusive tricks that ps2 can't do so ps2 is at a disadvantage with everything. The only advantage Ps2 has over GameCube is with Speedways which is not worth the slow loads.
