I noticed that these were present in smash 4, but not in Ultimate. It may be a bit tougher to make categories given that you can tank GSP to get worse players. But I still think it is viable. There could be an Elite Smash Category and a Low GSP category, like below 1m GSP. Other than that, categories would be the same as in smash 4: online/offline, DLC/no DLC. What do you guys think?
Yeah exactly. That's why I think the categories should be Low GSP and Elite Smash. Elite smash has the better players, like they are playing on hard mode, and Low GSP has the really bad players, like it is easy mode. I don't think we can do a "normal mode" because it would be too hard to decide what GSP that "normal" level would be at. This one may be better for the spreadsheet, but I think it would work just fine on the main page too.
The unfortunate thing is that you can have like 5mil GSP or 9mil GSP both in elite smash
Thats true, but given that For Glory in Smash 4 didn't even have THAT restriction, I don't think it is too big of a deal.
Fair enough. Also your internet connection or others connection could affect it because of lag and connection time.
Yeah, internet connection is a problem, but I kinda look at it as a similar factor to RNG. Just something you have to deal with and hope that you get lucky.
So what do we think about this category? Is it valid for a spot on the website or is it more of a spreadsheet kind of category? I'm not really good enough to go submit a run for it, but I think it may be entertaining for others.
I think it has no place here. Online-related categories have always been dumb, look at Smash 4. Only fine with All Challenges including online challenges but literally no one has ran it yet and I don't see anyone willing to in the future.
Why are online related categories dumb? And also offline iron man's against computers were an option. Granted I am arguing for a category that I cannot run because of my own lack of skill and I don't own a capture card, but still.
Okay given the "frequently asked questions" thread did say that something won't become a category unless the suggester runs it, and I have neither the skill nor camera to do that, I'll let it drop. If someone else thinks this category deserves a spot on the spreadsheet, take up the cause.
I did notice on smash 4 that there's a "Local" catagorie where you fight the level 9 CPU for this 1v1 iron man and that can be done for ultimate since there would be no ranking system messing it all up if anyone was up for that. Obv not as fun but can still be pretty cool I guess I might go for that if I get a capture card any time soon.
