Rules Overhaul, Criticisms, and Suggestions

If you have come here to ask "is xyz" allowed, then please read both the rules and the FAQ thread. If you cannot find anything disallowing xyz, then it is allowed

After being granted temporary moderator permissions, I updated the rules to use markdown as well as making a few changes to the rules such as requiring runners to include the timestamp at which the runs starts if the provided video is substantially longer than the run itself. So with that being said I recommend you all read the rules as some new ones have been added, and maybe you just missed something before (assuming you even read the rules Kappa)

Feel free to reply to this thread with any criticisms or suggestions regarding the rules.

The following rules are currently being discussed: Nothing!
The following rules are currently being discussed:

 • Allowing runners to spend a longer duration of time waiting for the world to load
 • Removing milliseconds from full game runs
 • Using only 2 decimals for IL runs

my pc is kinda bad so the encoder of obs lags for 10 seconds when creating a world

For the first suggestion, well honestly the runs are just too long to make milliseconds matter

All they do is give verifiers 10x more work and make the times of runs harder to read

This also means your runs may take longer to be verified

As for ILs, the 3rd decimal is always going to be the same unless you record at a different frame rate, so if the runs are tied which could happened with something like get cake set seed, then one guy might have a faster time because of the framerate he recorded at
I also changed "Co-op" to Cooperative. No real reason for it other than the fact that it looks more "official"

I think it would be a good idea to have parity with the java-version when it comes to the layout and where to find different runs and what they are named.

As far as the layout goes, besides Any% Glitchless being the default main category, the only real difference I see is the fact that versions are a subcategory as opposed to a variable. Personally I don't think changing that would be a good idea as it would mean having yet another layer of subcategories over what we already have.

other difference is how messy its are, they get the its that really matter into the extensions and don't really use its, and there are no coop ils

It's not a big difference between the two, I just think it would be nice if they were in "agreement" with eachother when it comes to what is where on the page, so it's easier to navigate once you know the layout of one.

RULES UPDATED

Changes:

 • Runners may now spend a longer duration of time waiting for the world to load

Can we have loading screens not add up to the time?

European Union

I’m for it in the sense that it would have made sense to have been in the rules originally, but if we implement it now that means retiming years worth of runs. (We’d need to retime obsolete runs too)

I mean I wouldn't mind it being 1 or 2 second away from the real time but 10 seconds for the nether loading screen is a big deal

Colorado, USA

java just started doing this for more categories, just saying we would only time the top run(s) and then time runs in igt if they beat or come close to wr This does add an extra things to frame time for verifiers however which is worth stating

I think most of the runs in the leaderboard count in real time...but how to deal with these long(like 10hours or more)time runs?I mean,of course these runs maybe timed on in-game time, but how should I do if i want to leave the game for a while(and proof I’m not cheating on this“leaving time”)?

If we would time with in game time, I think the only difference would be removing load screens, and I don't think anyone has load screens long enough to actually be able to practice on a second device or something.

I could help retime

Having volunteers help retime could be an interesting idea to explore. I can bring it up with the other mods/verifers and see what they say.

Whoops, forgot to update this thread! Here are the updates from the past month:

 • Any cheating of any kind is a permanent ban
 • We are not moving to in game time
 • Cooperative ILs will stay for now
 • Full game runs played on a beta edition are banned from the main leaderboards, but have a leaderboard in category extensions

I also wrote new rules regarding proof to minimize confusions. Check it out under the "Game Rules" tab in Rules

European Union

After a discussion with other moderators, non-vanilla clients are banned from the leaderboards. Please perform your runs on the vanilla bedrock client.
