A question

Hey all, so I've been playing this game and really enjoying it and I'm interested in running. I know there have been talks about the N64 and the PC port and I only have access to the PC version of the game.

My question is can you explain all the differences between the games.

I will be running on PC I just want to know what tricks would work and not work and if there is other places I can look for resources like guides and the such.

Thank you for your answers!

The main differences are going to be lack of glitches in the PC version; no neutral reset or SSG clips. You can however still do key bumps in the PC version, which saves quite a bit of time in various maps.

  • Neutral reset involves holding down on a controller then simultaneously press L+R+Start, which allows you to go much faster.
  • SSG clips are used to go out of bounds, or pass through gates to reach areas faster. It's possible only on the N64 hardware because when you fire the SSG, the game lags from trying to render all the puffs of smoke from the shot impact.
  • Key bumps are done by strafing at the correct angle into a key pedestal. This tricks the game into thinking you are on top of the pedestal and lets you grab the key.

The N64 version is also VERY dark, making the route a tad troublesome to learn. PC is more accessible and an easier starting point to learn the game, if you desire to move on to the fastest possible way to run it. There aren't really any guides currently for the PC version, but there are a number of people streaming the game daily. You can check the leaderboard for the PC players to catch their streams or watch a VoD for a past run. Feel free to ask any questions if you are able to watch one of us when we go live.
