Can we decide whether we want to show the Japanese name of a game by default? It would most certainly make sense for some games like in this glorious series: http://www.speedrun.com/fengshenyanyi

United States

I'd rather not have it display this by default: 愛蔵版 封神演義

Between the two of these:

 • Aizbouban Houshin Engi
 • Fengshen Yanyi

I'd rather use the more common Western reference to the game so that people know what it is on this page: http://www.speedrun.com/games#byplatform,PS Both being listed is also a good choice.

See also: http://www.speedrun.com/Akumajou_Special_Boku_Dracula-kun (Which I think is the common Western reference for that game.)

Maybe more translation options can be added to better help your concern, but for right now I think using a primarily Japanese reference to the game as the primary name may make it hard for most users to find the game right now.

It's more of a functional concern that substantially more users for this site speak English and refer to games by the English reference.

Yeah that all makes, in the end I figured that myself. We'll just keep it the way it is.

Sorry to be annoying once more but my profile's actin' up

Looks like it has been fixed

United States

It looks like PAL runs are not showing the EU flag anymore. Seems to be affecting all games.

Maybe I'm missing something, but are Mario Kart 64 runs not showing on the "Latest Runs" on the homepage? Never see them there after approving them

France

Well, the latest runs are always sorted by date of submission, so if you take several days before accepting them, they won't show on the main page since more recent runs have been approved before.

In the case you're approving the runs the second after they've been submitted, and they're not showing, there might be an issue.

Arkansas, USA

Ah I see. I approve them pretty quickly but it might have just barely missed the cutoff. I'll keep an eye out though

France

Next time you approve a run, make sure you check the submission date of the run. If it's "X days ago" there's a high chance it won't appear on the main page :)

United States

The main page probably should show runs as they're approved not as they're submitted though, no?

United Kingdom

there have been a few stealth timing updates rolled out recently, which I love. thanks for working on them!

one thing I've noticed that might be a bug is that while it's now possible to submit a run with 0 for time, it's not possible to edit an existing run to give it a value of 0.

edit: also, while times of 0 are now sorting to the bottom of a leaderboard, if you view someone's profile it will say they have the 1st place time (ie, still sorting to the top)

Due to the large scale timing update taking longer than expected, there have been some smaller updates addressing the more prominent matters.

Both of the bugs you mentioned should now be fixed, thanks.

Update: it is also possible to select the default time to sort by now.

Is there any chance we can get the ability to hide certain runs on our runs page? I'd like to submit times for some meme games I've run in the past, but I don't want those clogging up my runs page.

i agree that the front page should show recently approved, regardless of the run's date. it would be nice also if it were more archival and had multiple pages or kept scrolling.

Problem is, with your idea, everytime a new game is imported, the front page will be flooded with all the times from this particular new game, and I'm not quite sure people actually want this to happen.

This is only my point of view though.

For the endless scrolling/pages idea, that could be clever.

United States

That's a special case, and it could be handled. But in general the way it works now submitted times are going to have a hard time getting highlighted at all.

If you upload a background image that is smaller than the site width, it breaks to tiles (repeats). It should get stretched to fit the entire background.

So yes, but don't expect it tomorrow, we're talking weeks at least.
If you upload a background image that is smaller than the site width, it breaks to tiles (repeats). It should get stretched to fit the entire background.
I'd say you should actually be able to specify whether it repeats or stretches, as well as other relevant things. Should be done at some point, but isn't very high priority atm so no ETA.

Regarding the front page discussion, good points are being made, I will hold off on saying what exactly is going to be done with it until that's actually decided though. Just know that we're following what's being said about it even though there's nothing in-depth I will respond now. Keep the feedback coming!

Not sure if it was mentioned before, but I would really appreciate if you could set entirely different full-game and IL boards for each platform the game has. Many games has quite a different gameplay, some glitches doesn't work on a certain platform etc.
