Hey all.

• I was wondering for some time if this game has any glitches or some kind of "strats" to take in mind when speedrunning it. Stuff life conserving grenades for the bosses or sometimes for enemy tanks/planes, I get that. What I also want to know is lesser stuff like is the frontal attack (of the Metal Slug) worth it or other things to take in consideration. Or, in the other side of the spectrum, if it is all based on skill and no RNG factors in play at all.

• Please keep in mind I'm pretty new to this, but I might as well get as much info as possible.

Depending on the version although I think all of the versions that are allowed to be played on the site have input and engine lag and that means that having too many things on screen can slow down your run , even shooting with the machine gun can sometimes slow you a frame or two which is really important for you to avoid (rocket launcher , enemey chaser being the most lag punishing in chaotic fights). You need to master jumping for starters , jumping is the fastest way to travel around in the game and for example in the first game there are few jumps that you need to know by heart if you want to get a good record. You mentioned RNG which personally i think that other than boss play rng everything else spawns as always (there are some places where some soldiers spawn on the other side of the screen where you are example if you are left they will come out from right). Id suggest looking up a guides for all of the things that I mentioned to help you on your run.
