How to record my speedrun on PS4

Hi there, I'm new at speedrunning and like to try my best to run that wonderful game Celeste. However I've no idea how to record my game. The PS4 allows to record videos with the share function for up to 60 minutes. However my best "run" is 97 minutes right now. As far as I understand the rules, uploading two consecutive videos with the share function is not allowed as validation, right? So what can you recommend to record my run? Do I need some kind of capturing equipment for the PS4 or is it mandatory to get some capturing equipment for my PC and connect it with my PS4? If there is already a thread or another helpful source of Information like a tutorial video I'd be really grateful for a hint =)

Seeing as your best run is 97 minutes, you should be able to improve quickly and if I were you i'd grind to get down to subhour and then use the share function

Hi. You can use Remote Play to stream the game on your PC and use OBS to record the splits and the game at the same time.

thanks for your replys! =) Meanwhile I installed OBS on my PC and it seems to work so far (eventhough the quality of the game is not really good due to my backward PC, but that's another problem...). Anyway I wonder if I have to play the game on that PC to record the run or can I play it via PS4 console on my TV while my PC records my Gameplay via OBS? I just ask because I'm used to play on my TV which will raise the chance for improve my time.

Using the PS4 Remote Play the game will run in your PS4 and will be streamed to your PC. Your PC will only receive the video. You can use the video in OBS and record your runs.

Ah, problem solved! I have to keep the gamepad connected with my PC via USB cable. I previously took it off which also cut off the connection to my PC. Thanks for your time and help =)

If you want to use PS4 Remote Play, I recommend this guide: https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/easy-to-stream-from-ps4-without-delay/ - basically, you can use two accounts, so the controller is paired to the PS4 and not the PC, which means you can play without needing your controller wired to the PC, and it should also reduce your input lag. I've used this a couple times with no issues once I got a hang of the setup

Also, if you're interested in an alternative way of recording runs, you can stream your runs directly to Twitch from the PS4, and in Twitch settings, make sure you enable saving VODs - for me, this was a higher quality output than anything involving Remote Play

Anybody have any suggestions for recording Xbox gameplay? I can only record up to 10 minutes at a time so I can't even record the summit as my best on that chapter is 14:35.

I believe you can stream directly to Twitch from Xbox the same way you can from PS4, so you could do that and enable saving VODs in Twitch settings

None of this is specific to Celeste. You may be able to find more useful info here. https://www.speedrun.com/streaming_recording_equipment/forum
