Enforced reset after PW duping

So, while we're talking about changing some stuff up in VC, I always think about this when I see runs starting with disco lights. SA enforced swimming resets, and it's clear PW duping leaves things messed up even after a new game, we don't know the extent of all the changes, so why not nip this issue in the bud as well? Old runs would of course be unaffected. Opinions?

I agree, disco lights on non-NG+ runs trigger me so much

What about JF duping? Would we restart the game after doing it? If no, why not? If duping messes with the game, why wouldn't we restart the game after JF duping? Is it because the duping effects only take place after multiple dupes in a row? But where do you draw the line? Two, three, four, or just five?

I'm against this change until there's evidence that the post-duping changes are more than cosmetic. Currently, implementing this change doesn't accomplish anything helpful or useful.

I agree on Frew and want to submit that disco lights look fun.

The messed up stuff after PW occurs because the game goes over the limit for the number of peds/cars etc. JF duping doesn't make the game go over the limit.

I also agree with Frew on this one. I haven't seen anything that would speed up the game after resetting a duped game. Even a duped game (PW2 dupes), can be 'fixed' if you find a way to destroy the cars (savegames work again and vehicles spawn again). Discovered that once on accident when doing bigbang a few times at the end of a run. :P And indeed, maybe Jury Fury also causes something to be left behind, even though we don't see it, but there's no proof of that. There was actual proof of the timing method being 'abused', so I understand why that's changed now.

From what I've heard somewhere these disco lights are there because it had something to do with the headlights of all the vehicles in the game. And since there's an overflow it probably causes the headlights to be way too shiny. I don't know the exact details but I remember it was something like that.

When it's so obvious that it affects something, even if it doesn't save any time, I think it's reasonable to force the reset. Also, pretty sure that the glitch where lamp posts start getting knocked down by themselves after some dupes can also carry over to a new game, and I wouldn't expect a run where this is happening to get verified. In essence it's the same thing.

If there's no visual proof of something happening (like the Jury Fury example, [which shouldn't really leave anything behind seeing as it clears all the markers and the cars]), there's really no way to control it outside of forcing a reset at the start of every run, which I don't see feasible.

I've made a point of it to myself to always reset after doing PW2 dupes because it's so obvious that something is happening, and that something is caused by something done on a previous run. I think it's better to be safe than sorry. If what Earleys says is true and clearing the cars clears the glitch then that would be fine as well.

Starting a new game clears the cars, but not the glitch, so I dont see how clearing the cars by means of weaponry would clear the glitch.

Just to clarify, I'm not claiming anyone got an advantage by running the game post PW duping. I was just saying that the extent PW duping affects the game is unknown, and we could fix a potential problem early on. Everyone agrees though, you can't deny proof that PW duping does something to the game.
