My opinions on the new update

Pleasssssee remove the news for the love of god I hate it, the text is so small and so large in certain places (the "Full runs" etc text vs the Info box and such). Also the tab headers in the edit profile section goes to two rows, ugly

They said they were adding "moderation tools" but give no indication as to what they actually are.

I wanna reiterate that THE SITE LOOKED FINE AND NO-ONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT - those moderation tools and server stability should be number 1 priority, this is just silly. Sorry if I came off too hostile in this post, it's just getting very frustrating at this point

Edit: Also, have other people been getting the red dotted square on images that you have to click on to view or is it just me? Never happened before this update

Why is everything so tiny? Am I missing an option to scale it or something?

Okay, the news is starting to get on my nerves

Atleast remove it on user pages so that the zoom can be bigger

The longer i look at it, user image and game cover could really be made bigger.

I like the new layout of the Profile, but please remove the news sidebar

I wish this was real (edited) (also shows how much damn space it takes off, use it to make the pfp bigger and other stuff if you remove it <3)

I liked the old profile a lot better, I don’t like the site having such a commercial feel on people’s profiles. It’s ok for the front page, but not for the profile.

If people know how to load / use extensions feel free to take this code:

document.getElementById("widget").style.setProperty("display", "none", "important"); document.getElementById("centerwidget").style.setProperty("width", "100%", "important"); var a = document.getElementsByClassName("old-leaderboard") for(var i = 0; i < a.length; i++) a[i].style.setProperty("max-width", "100%", "important");

I used it myself for an extension and it auto removes the sidebar essentially, peace has been restored

edit: although it only appears to work half the time LOL i dont write chrome extensions dont judge my code ty

My prediction is that they will overhaul the Games page next before we get anything...

Hungary

I'd love if we could go back to the old design with a toggle switch My main issue is the news page shoved down your throat but also everything being too small is weird.

I like the new layout of the user profiles, but I hate the new font and I REALLY hate the sidebar on my profile. For those interested, here is some quick custom CSS to just get rid of that thing: https://pastebin.com/gRxMs7nn and for a more complete overhaul of how the site looks, I made this: https://github.com/Mango0x45/better-speedruncom

I hate everything about what ELO is doing to this site design wise, and I only hope that they begin to listen to us, because the vast majority of people it seems do not like where this new design is headed.

I also don’t like the new profile layout. They could at least get rid of the ads and opinion posts.

Remove news, keep that on the front page only. Add some stats to user profiles in the top bar, for example total number of 1st places and total different games played.

There’s already been extensive discussion about adding number of 1st place times, with the general consensus being that it’s a pretty meaningless number to track.

WR numbers aside, I actually would be interested in seeing the news bar being replaced with some stats. Total games played isn't a bad idea. We already had that tracked in the users section, along with total categories. Maybe also something like "favorite game" based on the game you've submitted the most runs to.

I really dig this idea. Going a step further, we could also allow users to define info of their own to display on there, be it a description, their all time favorite game (rather than defining it by most runs submitted I'd prefer to let the user decide which one), etc.

Perhaps they could even show a mini-stream in case the user is streaming. We already do something similar in the main page with a selected stream, so doing it for each user that has it enabled doesn't seem too big of a stretch. However, it's all on baby steps.

This is very bad. Not only did they completely ignore the criticism that the content of the front page is squeezed by the massive news section, they forced it onto the user pages. At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they planned to do the same thing to the game pages next. Just give it up with forcing this news section down our throats, it can be a small column to the side of the front page like it used to be.

The username thing is weird, why would you go and restrict them if they weren't in the past?

I'm really starting to get worried about the future of this site.

[QUOTE=andypanther] The username thing is weird, why would you go and restrict them if they weren't in the past? [/QUOTE] This is very confusing to me too. I've asked site staff numerous times if anyone has any idea what the rationale behind it is, and I've yet to receive a response.

What’s even worse than the new profile layout is the fact they won’t listen to our feedback.
