Ok, so we have an open spot for another moderator and would like to invite anyone that wishes to fill this position in this thread.

If you decide you would like to become part of the TLK Genesis Moderation Team, please leave a post below with the following information:

  • How much time have you spent running TLK Genesis/Mega Drive? (Months/Years and doesn't have to be super consistent)

  • Reasons you believe you would be a good fit for the moderation team.

  • Do / have you moderate(d) any other board here on SRC? If you have but left or removed yourself, please leave a reason why unless you do not feel comfortable sharing that information.

  • How often are you involved with the community? Do you see yourself continuing to be involved with this community for the near future and beyond? (Not forever obviously)

  • Any extra details that you would like to add.

As soon as we have our list of nominees, I will create a poll and the link will be hosted in this post and I will also be posting it in the TLK Discord channel.

https://forms.gle/EF3K4FChHkFmbPdQ6

Polls will be available until December 22nd, 2020 @ 8:00 P.M. EST

Good luck to all.

I might as well give this a shot, because why not. The more options the better, no?

I submitted my first run to the Genesis version of this game in July of this year, however, I did run the SNES version starting back in May. (These are when I submitted my first RUN, however this isn’t when I very first started playing the game.)

Some of the reasons I believe I would make a good moderator is because I believe that I am a very approachable person. I am always willing to hear out other people's ideas, and I am always willing to listen to any concerns that anyone may have. I do my very best to hear from other perspectives in the community. I do work well with others, even if there’s something up, I treat everyone with the same respect regardless of what’s going on. And like other runners near the top, I do know a lot of how this game works and what to look for. And if there are any issues or I'm not sure of anything, I would always ask other moderators for help instead of taking a guess of whether something is right or wrong.

I have 3 years of experience of being a super moderator on speedrun.com and it continues to go on. I still moderate another board. This leads to my activity level always high on this site, as the other page I moderate does flood in with up to quite a few runs in a day sometimes. (However to clarify, this would not make my activity worse for TLK, as the game I moderate is an IL based game, so runs are only about 1-2 minutes, so I get them done easily.) I suppose the point of me mentioning this, is that I have the speedrun.com tab open for most of the day which would allow me to fare well in activity for TLK.

I am very involved in this community. Most people who run this game currently have likely seen me hanging around whether it has been on the discord or other runners twitch streams. There is where a lot of my activity is with a lot of other members in the community. I do intend to stick with this community for a good amount of time for the foreseeable future.

As a final statement: even if I’m not selected as a moderator, as I’ve mentioned in the past, I am always happy to help in any way I can with the board. :)

This is all I really got. I’d rather just have this short and to the point then me trying to stretch this out and repeat myself. Good luck to other people applying! (and I will edit this later on if I have to.)

hi, i'm eight. i think stormy is very qualified, but because there might be 2 mod spots open, i might as well go forward with my dumb thing.

i haven't been quite as active in the community as he has lately for reasons i don't need to state here, but i've been actively running the game since august of 2019 either on my main account, on my alt accounts, or offline. i have found countless optimizations in the game, i was the first runner to legitimately record a 12:xx on genesis, i was the first to run this version in any GDQ event at all. i was featured in a main one (Summer Games Done Quick 2020). i am so concerned with the objective fairness of the leaderboard that i personally spearheaded a campaign to get a cheating runner's runs proofcalled and then the runner subsequently banned.

i take moderating extremely seriously and would strive to approach all situations with fairness, logic, and objectivity. i have absolutely no issue separating my personal feelings from my position as a moderator. i haven't moderated on src before, but i have been someone's right hand in putting on a serious tournament and moderated that discord. i know many src moderators of Genesis, NES, SNES, Switch, and PC boards who have talked shop with me about moderation so i completely understand that a moderator is the hand of the community. i would never disrespect lion king speedrunning or MYSELF by acting as moderator to achieve my own goals in any capacity whatsoever. i live by a code of ethics and i wouldn't be happy with myself as a human being if i did anything of that nature. i have made some missteps along the way in this community, but my intentions have always been golden. everything i've done - even the things i was misguided about - have been what i believed would be best for the community.

aside from that, insom is my best friend in the world (LOL obvious joke here) and we'd work together well on issues. no, in all seriousness, i would like the opportunity to combine knowledge with insom on issues considering our past history. i really do think we get along well now that we've hashed everything out and i feel like me as a moderator would work toward building some of the community cohesion that has been missing recently because it would mean everyone is finally on the same page. i have a lot of respect for carter despite the fact that we've barely spoken to each other too.

ultimately i just want to be able to have an eye on what's going on. with what has happened in the past, i think it would be good if there was somebody keeping an eye on top times so as to prevent another cheating incident from taking place. (not that i believe any active runners to be cheating! i'm talking in the future here LMAO i am completely confident all top runners are actually performing the entirety of their runs at all times) my theoretical strategy there would be to first let the other mods know to hold off on verifying the run, mention that i think it's shady, then send it to two of my sources who could help me proofcall the run and let me know individually whether or not they think anything is wrong with it. if they find anything, i would then send that information to the other moderators and we would talk about it from there.

now that i know how qualified stormy is, i feel confident no matter what happens. i'm not throwing my name into the pot for narcissistic reasons, i would simply be working on behalf of the community for free and making sure everything remains above board. :P i'm eager to do the work and take it seriously if you guys want me to, but i'm also thrilled with NOT doing the work because i know there are others as qualified as me who would do a damn good job. i support stormy 100%. that's all from me

Update: We currently do have two moderation spots open. We will still be conducting a poll however, the option to add both, @EIGHT and @Stormy, to the Moderation team will be available.
