How About a Glitchless Category?

It'll be really interesting to see a Glitchless category for a game like this because it is fairly quick to beat the game with no glitching whatsoever.

Finland

Well, there used to be glitchless category, which was later replaced by no out of bounds category, because of some disputes about what should be considered a glitch and what shouldn't.

The no OOB basically allows smaller skips, like either jumping on a ledge or the newer looking back before a ledge to skip the slow shimmy animation. In no OOB you can't go through walls or floors/ceilings, but you are allowed to do the doorclip and walk through doors as well as do the door hop on the prison block, because on that skip you just get on top of the door and climb the ledge without ever going through anything.

Would you be interested in running no OOB instead? There are some runs on the old leaderboard at http://outlastspeedruns.weebly.com/ if you want to see what's allowed in them. Some of the newer skips has to be discussed about like the new courtyard skip, technically you don't go out of bounds on that, although you do see through the wall. I could add that category back. Starting tomorrow I'll be away for 2 weeks though, so I won't be verifying any runs.

That'll be nice to add the Glitchless category back.

Finland

I added the no oob category for both games. Right now you have to click show misc categories to show them, but you can submit runs normally. Once there's some runs on them I'll probably take them out from the misc categories. Later I'll write some rules, can't really be bothered now because I'm on my mobile. And like I said I won't be verifying runs for couple of weeks now.

Norway

There are some people that have been requesting full glitchless runs, finath. Like TheDarkenedRose and another guy named Mattmatt10111. I think that would be a better category than No OoB.

I might try to do glitchless speedruns, just for fun tho and not really to grind attempts

and I think a"Glitch"would be considered doing: -any doorboosts/doorriding tricks, including those you would use in other categories to go out of bounds, this includes the Male Ward vent boost and the slight doorboost in Prison -save+exiting to skip cutscenes -clipping in any objects other than doors, such as the tall window in Female Ward or the cooking tray in Hospital in WB -slamming doors shut to be able to clip through them/shorten the animation,or guard yourself against the enemy in the Generator section in Admin Block So in other words, any trick that allows you to clip into doors,go out of bounds, and clip into other objects and walls I don't think ledge-jumping/running on ledges really counts as a glitch, since you don't really break the game in a big way by doing them, and you don't clip through objects by doing them either One trick that might be very debatable as being a glitch or not is definitely the Superman, because while it does skip a good chunk of Underground Lab,it also is not technically a"glitch"based on my above criteria,so I'll have to figure that out

I also was kind of curious about the Scary Mist Skip from WB being considered as Out of Bounds or not, because if it isn't I could add that to the No OoB route and shave off some more time

Finland

Spooky mist skip in WB isn't considered OOB, so you can do that. About the glitches: everything you listed are definitely glitces except save and quit IMO, also I'd consider ledge jumps being glitches as well. You jump over a animation trigger, which definitely isn't intended. But this is the reason why glitchless is so hard to define, since everyone has their own view about what should be included and what shouldn't.

I just say no glitches at all and play it the way I first played the game when I never knew about glitches... but faster. :D That's what I think when it comes to Glitchless.

Yea probably, again I'd still have to test some things,in fact so far I already have a route in mind for WB since that game in No OoB doesn't have a whole lot of skips anyways, like the Manera cutscene skip and another smaller doorclip that saves 10 seconds,so I can omit those tricks

Managed to complete a Glitchless run of WB with 1 death, with the main game I still have some routing to do and things to be sure of

Finland

I added the following rules for the no OoB category from the old website;

-Runners may not pass through permanently solid objects such as walls, ceilings and floors.

-Runners may pass through objects within the boundaries of the game map which become temporarily such as doors and tall windows.

-Doorride and vault glitches are allowed when you don't clip through the wall completely (camera may see through the wall).

The last part is added since the doorride/vault skips were found fairly recently. If you understand how those works, I think it's fair to allow those skips where you only make the hitbox small and then get through some small gap like a gap between a fence and a wall on courtyard. At no point does the player hitbox go through the walls, although the camera may see through thanks to the super small hitbox.

Obviously skips where you make the map blink and actually get through the wall aren't allowed.

I'd like the input from people who run these categories, since I don't do it myself, what do you think about the rules?

This basically adds one skip in main outlast; at the courtyard, and 3 skips for whistleblower; 1 at the furnace, 1 at the recreational area and 1 after you turn off the electic fence, all of which you can see on the WB any% run. I think that's all that we know of.

Managed to complete a No OoB speedrun where I got every major trick, including the doorrides, and about finath's new ruleset for No OoB on both games,I like it,as since these tricks are allowed they can shave minutes off the category,as the above run by me shows

Also,on a slightly unrelated note, when I was practicing the OoB tricks for Whistleblower Any%,way back in January,I did some experimenting and routed and completed runs of a possible new category for WB This new category is essentially like"All Chapters"from the main game as it uses the same ruleset for main game All Chapters, but for WB. I feel that this could be added to the leaderboard as an easier alternative to running Any% as the really hard Vocational Block OoB from Any% is removed and instead the Groom Skips from 100% are used,Scary Mist Skip and the 2 doorrides are still done, also in Hospital there's a slight rerouting I did to where you do only the first part of the Any% route(where you boost up by loading the environment by pausing),after that the chapter is done as intended. I was kinda eh on the fence about mentioning this on the forums and I'd really like you guys' input on what you think about this,I'd really like if this new WB"All Chapters"category could be added to the leaderboard, either under misc. or shown categories

England

This is what I've got on a glitchless Outlast Whistleblower speedrun, absolutely no glitches or OoB, playing it as it's 'meant' to be played. (Insane difficulty)

Finland

Added the glitchless categories to misc. Post here if you have any feedback about the rules.

Finland

Well technically it isn't glitch, but it might be oversight on the developers behalf, and not something they intended to be abused by quitting and loading, same for the one in sewers. What do you think, should it be allowed?
