Show No MM by default. Opening 1P Any% and seeing 1 time is silly. Not to mention opening any of the others and seeing 0.

If the reason for this not being the case is "fastest categories shown first" then look at Crash 2/3.

????????

It does look silly though but I'm not the one crying about wanting categories separated anyway, and just because this is a "new" run doesn't mean we should take attention away from it

Yeah, I don't see why some people are so eager to hide the category behind the thing that is barely even a speedrun, almost as if to pretend it never existed. It's all a bit silly.

Why display 1 run instead of 59 though? Nobody wants to see it the way you have it.

Why default to the actual speedrun of the game Why click buttons It's gonna be 58 at some point do we just leave it hidden then because it's less popular despite clearly being ran more right now than No MM has been for the past few months

Speedrun and aesthetics politics yeehaw Edit: Any oldboi that's gonna open the boards is gonna know what no MM is and the least we can do is present the proper run right off the bat for anyone new

Why are you a mod of this game again?

Putting MM before No MM makes sense after more runs are done and it's done developing as a speedrun. For now, it's a huge joke to show a SINGLE 1:4x run and hide years of other runs.

Dumb luck, nothing else

In any case, I can make nom default if people actually care enough about it but so far everyone's gone either "oh ok" or wants MM default. Get the community all riled up and sending me some hatemail (here) and I'll get off my power "abuse"

Edit: Hell I'm even asking people right the fuck now and most everyone prefers MM default in one way or another so I'ono

MM is faster than No MM. The ones that are faster get priority.

It doesn't matter that there's one run with a 1:23 and the other is 2hrs.

Whichever is faster is faster and it'll hold priority no matter what.

So what if it has 1 runner. You know what you should do, not complain about it and join in the MM game.

I just don't understand the concept of displaying 1 time rather than 105 different times by default. Wait until the run is developed and the boards fill up more, then make a decision.

I don't think it matters necessarily what other games/series do with their categories, I personally think for bash NMM should be default.

It's probably not my place to say anything, as I've never ran this game (nor do I really intend to), but this looks like a mountain out of a mole hill to me. At the end of the day, Bash is a poorly programmed game that has next to nothing fast in NMM outside of Polar, Tank, Dash and Bash mini-games. All the Ballistix mini-games are painfully slow, the Pogo and Medieval mini-games are boring auto-scroll levels (aside from the gems) and the game just isn't fast for a speedrun. MM takes away a lot of the slowness (turning Pogo, Ring Ding and Dash levels into 35 second rounds) and chops off around an hour of the game. MM is removing a lot of the RNG and brutal CPU and turning the game into a speedgame. However, MM is removing a heck of lot of game/gameplay so technically you aren't "playing" the game, but you still need skill where you play mini-games (Pogo challenges become difficult, as do things like Toxic Dash Gem), the run is faster and more challenging in certain aspects, meaning mistakes in Polar, Pogo and Dash games are costly to the run (though lose less than failing Trophy rounds of Pogo in NMM). The only reason I have for arguing against the MM taking priority is that only NTSC-U can exploit this, but hardly anyone runs on PAL and J so that is a rather weak argument. I actually would like to see what 200% would look like and its length when using MM, and I think the game looks more entertaining when being glitched that much anyway, Melt Panic is a good example of that. Ultimately though Bash is just a silly meme game people run that is neither fast nor fun, and does it really matter whether NMM has priority when you consider the mediocrity of the game itself?

I think jumpyluff is too stressed out planning his wedding to think logically about all this to be honest.

"wahh theres only one run for a category created 3 days ago!!! its not popular!!!!" maybe let it live for a while before being the judge of that tbh.

Alex: That was in response to Spikestuff, who decided it was his place to give an overall "not matter what" rule.

CyanYoshi: Wow. Hot take, dude.

JangBang: The first thing that was decided was to not do that. And if it were to happen, there would be another non-obsoleting variable, which would make the boards crowded. A category split was necessary.

Cyberdemon: I've done no planning of the sort whatsoever. Part of the stress you see may actually be coming from me being one of the 4 or 5 people that are actually playing the game we're discussing.

But yeah, I'm done whining about it. I still believe the boards as they are are far from ideal, but I'm in the minority and I've said all I could say about it.

Just so you know, since we're on the topic about different leaderboards from different communities.

Be glad it's not the Jak leaderboards style. At one point that was the style that was going to be used.

And to question it. What's the point of making 4 new branches (cause this is also a 2p game) when it's easier to make it as a sub category?

Do we want to make it messy and unorganised? NO.

personally, i like the leaderboards with the mm first setup, not that it matters, as long as the leaderboards have people's times on them, its doing its job :/

So we are discussing whether to put Any% or arbitrary no press down left at the same time on the v letter in the save file menu% as the first category. For me not arbitrary >>>>>>>>>>>>> arbitrary, and also faster > slower. Also I have seen multiple people run Any% right now, so I don't see the problem, board is gonna fill up. (also any single arbitrary% time corresponds to the definition of any% as well, so you can fill up the leaderboard with those times at any time :^) )
