Version differences

Thanks to HalfOfAKebab, it's come to light that the german version is multiple minutes faster than the US or orther EU versions, due to the removal of certain triggers/forced dialogue. Recently, he also found that if you change the language of the game via Steam to German, you will download 2.6 GB update that makes the changes, I just thought everyone should know of this for runs made in the future.

He guesses it's going to be around two minutes faster, but hey if it makes an hour long run any shorter I'd go for it

If this is a vote, I'm voting to allow it

Here are the differences btw:

  • Semper Fi: The "you like that, you piece of shit" thing doesn't happen and the door doesn't open, so you can save like... not even a second, because you take a more direct line instead of having to move out of the way of the Japanese guy.

  • Their Land, Their Blood: The opening cutscene is removed, and you start outside the building.

  • Eviction: The Nazi begging for mercy isn't there, so your comrades will follow you sooner, I guess? Also, the Nazis at the entrance to the subway aren't there, so you save a very small amount of time not having to kill them.

The biggest difference is the massive timesave in Their Land, Their Blood.

Also, it's worth noting that Nazi Zombies is completely removed, so make a backup of the game if you like to play it so you can just rename the installation folder to swap between the English and German versions without re-downloading multiple gigs. (Although I don't know if custom zombies maps work.)
