Just installed a new copy of the game, and now it's completely soft bricked. What do I do
This just happened to me as well, I thought my entire PC was fucked but luckily system restore exists.
Should remove the game link until it's figured out. Nobody should have to deal with that.
Sucks cuz I really wanted to learn this game for PC.
Edit: Had someone else test out the download and it did the exact same thing.
Here is what windows says the issue is in the log file in system 32: Boot critical file c:\windows\system32\drivers\sfsync02.sys is corrupt.

From the research I just did, it's basically a copy protection software called starforce that's installed silently without you knowing, and it's corrupt. Causes PC's to not boot due to a failure to read data, and makes your pc think it's a hardware issue when it isn't. More info on it here: http://library.monx007.com/computer/starforce/1
I used System Retore to fix my PC. Safe mode does not work. It will kick you back to the auto repair screen, and tell you Windows can't fix it. At least that is what happened to me and one other person.
Hope this is helpful to anyone who suffered through the agony of a dead computer because of it.
