speedrun submission and notifications

Hi there,

I'm bloody new here, am speedrunning Bob Was Hungry levels individually and have a few questions.

  1. Do I have to submit a video of my run or is a screenshot of the ingame times sufficient? (I performed good times on levels I didn't record)

  2. If my submitted time beats a speedrunners before submitted time, will he be notified about this? Will I be notified when someone beats my time? (So I can get up to the challenge again ;-) )

Thanks in Advance!

  1. heavily depends on the moderator for that game, screenshots might not be enough to proof you did that run.

  2. unless they tinkered with their settings: if it's a top 3 run, yes. you can see your notification settings at https://www.speedrun.com/Linkblade/settings/notifications

According to the rules for that game: "Proof in form of a video or screenshot is required"

So yeah, in this case a screenshot should be fine. Generally speaking video proof is your best bet, but always check the rules for whatever game and category you're running to see what's accepted in terms of proof.

Generally, a video would be best since people can modify the end time with either hacks (to speed up gameplay or even change the value) or photoshop. However, if it's something like "Piano Tiles - Classic" then a screenshot is enough. Go for a video though if possible.
