Super Gameboy 2

Hey,

I know that the original Super Gameboy is slightly overclocked and therefore banned in a lot of communities/leaderboards. Is the use of the Super Gameboy 2 also not allowed for Pokémon speedruns?

I am asking because I haven't seen any Pokemon runs done on an SGB2 which would be my preferred hardware for Game Boy speedruns.

Germany

just do it. It's a legitimate console and has been used for a lot of runs of other games too.

I am not that kinda guy, in my opinion it's always better to ask the community about rules first before actually doing runs. :)

Yeah, you'll better wait some mods answer about it. Still I guess it's not allowed.

Well that would make no sense because Super Game Boy 2 is running at correct Game Boy frame rate (59.7 FPS) as opposed to the original Super Gameboys 61.1 FPS.

Here a comparison video of the Super Game Boy 2 and the Game Cube Game Boy Player (and some other emulators):

I just found this but I don't know how official it is since it is saying "possible platform rules" http://wiki.pokemonspeedruns.com/index.php/User:Dabomstew/Possible_Platform_Rules

My understanding is that SGB2 is allowed, so feel free to use it. I'm pretty sure there's already a run on the leaderboards with someone using it

Ah right, overlooked that one. Thanks for the clarification and response though. Also maybe you guys want to put that into the rules which platforms are allowed and which are not allowed. :)

What about Stadium / Stadium 2's game boy mode? (with 1x speed obviously)
