Differences between JP & US?

I was wondering for the Ps3 port of Silent Hill HD collection is there any differences between the Japanese version and the U.S version? I know HD collection isn't all that great due to its numerous issues but it's just a thought I was wondering.

If you mean for the purposes of speedrunning it's extremely unlikely, as to my knowledge none of the original games in the collection have regional advantages.

Sadly I doubt anyone else would be willing to purchase a JP version of HD Collection to test either considering the low likelihood and it being HD collection and all.

There's a running joke among some of the runners that HD Collection may be faster than PC due to how awful the 'HD' port was. None of us really wanted to investigate intensely because...well, it's the HD port. But a glitch hunter may find something. My suggestion would be to find an apartments skip to go straight to the Park from the streets.

As far as regional differences, that's a big question mark. It's likely there is no meaningful difference speedwise.

From my memory of owning the game, you would want the US version at least over the PAL version, at least on PS3. For PS3 there were two patches released: 1.01 and 1.02. The PAL version released slightly later and actually shipped with US version 1.01 on the disc (and is actually labelled 1.00). Later a second patch was released in the US (1.02), which was released in PAL as 1.01.

NTSC-U 1.01 = PAL 1.00 NTSC-U 1.02 = PAL 1.01

Therefor if any major skips/glitches are found on NTSC-U 1.00 which were fixed in the first patch, it wouldn't be possible on PAL. Not sure what JP shipped with.

I really thank you all for the information that I have received it really helps!!!

Minor but Important Rule Change:IGT Must Be Shown on PC Runs

Going forward we will be requiring a visible IGT timer on submissions on the PC version, preferably using the LiveSplit script. Most people already do this, but we're making it mandatory to make run verification easier. Thank you for your understanding.
