SO yeah im currently speedrunning RE2 and i wanted to ask, can i use simply a timer on screen? or do i need to add a splitter with it in order to submit my run? (sorry if this is a confusing question) :/

If you dont need splits to know your route or if you want to know if your ahead you dont need them. just a timer should be enough (as long as its accurate)

You don't even need a timer on the screen. The actual time of the video is the real time value, not the value you got by manually starting and stopping your splits (which could be late or early).

Splits are more meant for your viewers to show how well you are doing in the current run. If you don't want to give your viewers information prepare for more "is this wr pace" or "what's your pb" questions in chat.

If you submit a PB to the leaderboard you should always time your recording since manual splitting is inacurate and timers can glitch out. Unless there is an autosplitter for your game or a different timing method that uses demos.
